Ashley Tisdale was in one of her quiet moods the other day - but some random dude was loud and crazy enough for them both!

We caught up with the Tis at the gym and, as she left, suddenly some crazy guy swung into the parking lot - and nearly ran a few photogs over! The guy then hopped out of his car to hurl obscenities at the paps and chase them around the parking lot. Guess he must be a surfer at heart!

A little while later, we spotted Ashley and her boyfriend Jared Murillo making their way into Trader Joe's. Ashley seemed much more relaxed without her psycho protector around - gee, what a surprise!

A sexy Salma Hayek out shopping in Beverly Hills with her beautiful baby girl, Valentina...

What's left to say? Salma is stunning as usual and Valentina is perfectly adorable!

Carmen Electra paused outside the Key Club after her scandalously sexy turn at the mic with Les Femme Cheries to sign a few autographs. Not everyone came prepared, though - one guy had to improvise and ask Carmen to sign his skateboard!

Glad this whole thing is finally resolved - at least for now!

Jamie Spears' attorney, Jeffrey Wexler, told the media outside the courthouse today that "Mr. Spears and Mr. Lutfi have reached a private agreement and no hearing or order is necessary at this time."

Additionally, Jamie would like to take the TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) off the calendar, which we expected...

Why? Now that Jamie's conservatorship has been extended until December 31st, there's no need for it - Brit's father holds the right to determine who gets to see, or communicate with, his daughter.

Think there's any chance of a future friendship between Britney and former BFF Sam?

Britney Spears has "reluctantly" agreed to extend her father's conservatorship!

Following the conclusion of this morning's hearing Commissioner Reva Goetz granted Jamie Spears six additional months of conservatorship over his daughter. "Miss Spears has reluctantly agreed that we extend," she told the court.

All elements of the conservatorship (including control over Britney's estate, trust, and personal life) are now set to expire on December 31st, with an additional court date on October 28th for the courts to check up on Britney's progress. No decision about the conservatorship becoming permanent will be made before then.

This morning's hearing also dealt with payments, as all lawyers collected their paychecks. Britney's brother Bryan also sought a payment for an unspecified service, but Commissioner Goetz deferred discussing Bryan's payment until a later date.

Well, it's a shame that Britney wasn't be given full control of her life back - but if she keeps making the kind of progress under Jamie she's been making, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise!

Our favorite country singer, Jessica Simpson, is on the cover of Elle Magazine next month, and it looks like she has more on her mind than just a new album!

Ashlee's older sis recorded a song called "Remember That," which she "hopes will deliver a message to abused women." Here's a portion of the lyrics: It doesn't matter how he hurts you/With his hands or with his words/You don't deserve it/It ain't worth it/Take your heart and run.

Jessica said she "had to record that," and added, "there's nothing on my album you're gonna hear that I don't relate to or that I haven't experienced."

The Elle writer then asked the singer, "I understand you've felt emotionally abused, but you're not telling me that you've experienced physical abuse as well, are you?"

"I don't want to talk about it," Jess responded, after pausing, "but I have definitely experienced abuse in a way that I would tell people to take their heart and run."

Hmm, sorry, we're a little confused... didn't Ms. Simpson bring this all up in the first place? Feels kinda like her confession is only a half-truth!

Either A, she's just opening up (it's not like she owes the world to reveal something personal) and that's totally okay... or B, she's just trying to promote her album. Which is not okay!

Think Jess would tease us just to get attention? She might've picked up a few tricks from Papa Joe, the master of media manipulation!

Has Tom Cruise's faith gotten him in trouble?

The Daily News reports that Peter Letterese, a former Scientologist who's become one of the religion's harshest critics, has filed a $250 million suit against the Church of Scientology - and the actor's name is among those singled out by the suit!

Letterese claims that members of the Church harrassed him after he became disillusioned. According to his allegations, the harassment's even spread to his legal team - Letterese claims a church member called up the wife of one of his lawyers claiming to be her husband's homosexual lover!

Letterese also charges the Church with reproducing published material to which he owns the copyright. Years ago, Letterese bought the rights to the book "Effective Sales Closing Techniques" - a business book used as a core Scientology text - from the author Leslie Dane's widow. He claims that the Church's continued use of the book constitutes a violation of his intellectual property rights.

Letterese characterizes the Church as a "crime syndicate" and wants to see the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) statutes employed to break it up.

So how does any of this relate to Tom? Well, technically it doesn't - but that hasn't stopped Letterese from including Cruise's name in his suit as many times as he could manage!

Letterese calls Cruise the "right-hand man" to David Miscavige, the Church's head, and alleges that the star raises funds "in the multiple tens of millions of dollars" while elevating the profile of Scientology both at home and abroad.

Scientologists are predictably livid over these charges. Official Church spokeswoman Karin Pouw described Letterese's suit as "frivolous" and "based on falsehoods" to the Daily News and pointed out that the courts affirmed that the Church's exploitation of Dane's book fell squarely under fair use statutes earlier this month.

This one's gonna get ugly - and we can't wait to see watch it go down!

Britney Spears might not have to appear in court today - but her brother Bryan's happy to swing by on her behalf!

Our reporter just told us that Brit's brother Bryan turned up at court with a young lady on his arm. Sounds like Bryan's got a court date of his own!

Though it was reported earlier that Elizabeth Taylor was put on life support after suffering congestive heart failure, her representative has denied the claims.

Longtime publicist Dick Guttman told E! News:

"Ms. Taylor is fine. The rumors which began in England about her health are dramatic, overstated and untrue. Her hospital visit was precautionary. She will be returning home shortly. At present, she is surrounded by family, friends and fabulous jewels."

The two time Academy Award-winning actress, who is confined to a wheelchair due to osteoporosis, was taken to the hospital on July 15 and diagnosed with pneumonia, according to the National Enquirer.

Thank goodness that didn't happen - we don't want to think of what the world would be like without Liz!

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck swung by the construction site of their extravagant new mansion yesterday afternoon. Jen's really starting to show, isn't she? Those construction workers better hustle - they've only got about four months left if they want to wrap up before Jen gives birth!

With her custody battle narrowly averted, Britney Spears can finally start addressing other legal matters - and first on the list is her restraining order against Sam Lutfi.

Dropping The Order
The AP reports that the pop princess' attorneys will not seek to extend the temporary restraining order against Lutfi at the hearing scheduled later today. (Spears' attorneys will also be in court for a previously-scheduled update on her conservatorship.)

The order required Lutfi to maintain a minimum distance of 250 feet from Britney or her homes.

But don't count on seeing the two former friends hanging out any time soon - in a statement, Britney's attorney Samuel Ingham said:

"Britney has made it clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama 'Sam' Lutfi," Ingham told the AP.

But HAS she made it clear? Or did dad Jamie make it clear that HE didn't want Sam around?

So far, Sam has acquiesced to the attorney's wishes, declaring that he and Jamie "have mutually agreed in private that no hearing or order is necessary at this time."
