The dreaded Jason Castro was cut from American Idol last night after performing Bob Marley's I Shot the Sheriff and Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man, during which he forgot the lyrics!

Simon ripped Jason and told him, "I'd pack your suitcase."

Kristy Lee Cook may have been voted off American Idol last night - but she ended up with one heck of a consolation prize!

According to an article in Us, Kristy Lee's boyfriend Andrew Dobner proposed to her at last night's Idol broadcast. Cook told the mag that she and Dobner are planning a June wedding - can't wait for that!

However, last night wasn't the first time Dobner's attempted to propose to Cook - he actually tried to pop the question on March 17th! According to Cook, they kept the news "on the down-low" because "I just wanted to be focused on Idol". Of course, as it turned out, Dobner's second proposal was way more noteworthy than his first - "He actually got down on his knee this time!"

American Idol addicts hardly need to be reminded to get excited for this week's special guest - Mariah Carey!

Carey - still riding the wave of success which carried "Touch My Body" to number one - is set to stop by the show to mentor the remaining contestants tonight. She'll also be treated to their interpretations of her extensive, hit-studded catalogue - now that ought to be a treat!

And the Idol brass are already lining up to sing Mariah's praises - in a conversation with Us Magazine, judge Randy Jackson describes her appearance as "amazing" and talks all about how hard the show had been trying to get Mariah to come on.

"She's kind of what the show's about — she's that girl who grew up in New York, who struggled to become that singer," Jackson said. "She's going to bring a wealth of knowledge about singing to these kids. It's amazing for us to have her on."

And Jackson points out that the kids would be well served to pay attention, too - after all, as Jackson points out, "she sold 175 million albums! I don't know if anyone will ever get to that point ever again because the music business is in such disarray."

Now we're just left wondering - will Mariah bring rumored bf Nick Cannon along? Guess we'll just have to wait until tonight's broadcast to find out!

Course, they joke about it on the show, but Simon's never really answered the question...til now!

As David Hernandez learned last night, money can't buy you love - or keep you from being dismissed from Idol!

Hernandez was voted off last night following his performance (along with David Archuleta and Chikezie) of the classic Beatles tune. Ultimately, the decision came down to David or Kristy Lee Cook - and the voters had to go with Kristy Lee. Sorry, David!

Of course, some are questioning whether David's dismissal might have something to do with the recent revelations that he used to be a male stripper. Could Idol voters have taken issue with David's sordid past? Or did David's dismissal have more to do with his performance? Let us know in the comment section!

American Idol's Top 12 will be performing tonight... but who are the only two contestants anyone really cares about?

Although most of my favorites got in, there's one Idol that I'll sorely miss - Danny Noriega! I thought Danny's voice rivaled David Archuleta's. Was it horrible song choice or bigotry (Danny's not too shy about being exactly who he is) that kept him from being a finalist?

After 60s week and 70s week, I am soooo ready for 80s week!

A poster on an AI fansite, DialIdol Forums (who claims these are the real deal) has a leaked list of the 80s tracks being performed on the show this week. Although there's no real info on which Idol will sing which song, it's certainly fun to try and guess!
