The arrogance of this vain self-promoting dilettante that she thinks her mere presence is so important that governments will spring into action on a nod of her head is laughable. She needs a reality check. Especially because people don't love her, they're disgusted by her so she's probably doing these poor people a disservice by showing up. She never seems to accomplish or change anything of import anyhow.

If she's got money to live in and renovate a castle, start shelling out some REAL money directly. Change begins with you, as they say.

These people should scorn her for appointing herself a spokesperson. One reason these people live in miserable poverty is because of gross imbalance of world resources, like bad actresses who make silly films making hundred of millions and living in gross excess, castles and chartering private planes for quarter mill a pop, etc.

The truly heartbreaking part of this self-promoting clip is when she gets back in her car and they surround it, and she's off to her luxurious life again after a back breaking couple of hours gracing them with the privilege of her presence. Her faux somber narration is fingernails on chalkboard.

There is something appalling and offensive about a rich, white American with access to the best food in the world showing up at a DP camp all skin & bones to give hope to people dying of starvation.

The whole day Ms. Jolie spends at these camps, with handlers and camera crews, doesn't make her the humanitarian she thinks she is. For example, there are thousands and thousands of humanitarians who use their own hard-earned money & vacation time to spend at these locations to actually be there and help - no private planes, chauffeurs or castles waiting for them. So many volunteers who truly give of themselves
and are never recognized or rewarded or celebrated. Would Ms. Jolie do the same without all the luxuries & cameras?

And neither of you 2 posting at the times indicated even expressed any sympathy or empathy for these poor refugees did you? Too busy venting about a woman who has done this work with refugees for TEN YEARS WHILE YOU SIT ON YOUR BUTTS!! She pays all her own expenses, gets attention and donations for the refugees she visits. She alone cannot stop wars which account for many of the displaced people these days. But she willingly goes places and interacts with people neither of you even knew existed or give one damm about, she is doing what she can like Bill Gates and others who have good hearts. Matt Damon, GeorgeC, Bono, Oprah, Madonna, and other wealthy people/celebs all visit just like Angelina and try to do what they can to help those in great need in different parts of the world. Angelina (like Oprah) supports a girls school in Kenya in addition to the projects she and Brad support in Cambodia and Ethiopia. All the people I mentioned all go back to their expensive homes on their private planes and live their lifestyles and work and earn money. But I guess they are OK with some here unlike Angelina who in the video is not afraid to touch and interact with people in this camp as she does in all her visits. Wonder why she alone is the object of scorn by some here. Maybe jealous of a women who does the right thing when they only do nothing. What shallow humans some are exposed to be.

I wish these publicity seeking celebs would pool their moneys, and build water treatment plants, set up tools and equipment for farming, hire a nurses aid, and a schoolteacher for these villages. Matt, she goes alone with the UNHCR staff members and pays her own way. She does not take an entourage, she does not take photographers, none at all, only herself. She has extensive briefings by UNHCR before each trip. Angelina's job for 10 years is to get publicity for the refugees plight, to get people and governments to take notice of them, to try to get them more assistance, and she is very effective. Angelina is brave, she goes into active war zones, she goes to camps like these where there is so much need for so many people. Go to the UNHCR website and read and see what Angelina and the other ambassadors mission is. You sound intelligent unlike some commenters here.

All of those women are modestly dressed, yet Saint Angela wears a low cut, figure clinging tee shirt. Why? To demonstrate that she's above them? That she's the great western white hope? That she's a fabulous movie star and they aren't?

Here's the thing: This is a good thing to do, but there have been many, many UNHCR & UNICEF reps over the years who have done the same thing and don't see or present themselves as "the great humanitarian" (Ms. Jolie replies, regardless of the questions posed her, that "she spent the day doing art projects with her kids" or "if only people could see these people in the Sudan as I have...."
If she cared more about these people, her visits could be more purpose driven than just PR.

Mia Farrow has been an active humanitarian for decades including adopting foreign kids in need (even ones without parents!!!) As was Audrey Hepburn, Princess Di, and more. These women quietly and selflessly gave their time, money and care, and got their hands dirty.
