I don't believe that Angie will be bringing the boy home this very weekend. That is way too soon. She just started the paperwork a few months ago, adoptions from Vietnam can take a year to two years to complete. If the Vietnamese government chooses to look the other way just because a celebrity wants to collect one of it's citizens while hundreds of other average parents have to wade through all the red tape and legal paperwork to adopt, I will be royally pissed. Not to mention the fact that she filed as a single mother, which she's not, and it is against Vietnamese adoption laws for a woman with a live-in boyfriend to adopt (You must either be a single woman (no single men) or a married couple). This woman is causing a serious uproar in the adoption commuity. Yeah it's oh so great she's taking one baby out of poverty, but what about the HUNDREDS of kind, loving, waiting families who have to play the waiting game for years or simply get turned down because they don't have the money and celebrity to back them up like Angie? I would rather see her become a serious advocate fighting for hopeful adoptive parents who get the run around so that many, MANY more children could be welcomed to the USA who otherwise will never find homes, than see her continue to collect babies for her own personal satisfaction.

Alright after reading some of these comments, I need to say something. I myself am a parent, though not an adoptive parent. But I do have friends who have adopted and tried at first to do so in the USA but ended up settling on Romania. The reason a lot of parents choose NOT to adopt children in the USA and go outside the country is because a lot of the time adoption agencies try to "push" children with severe emotional, behavioral problems or physical disabilites like mental retardation, CP, or fetal alcohol sydrome. There are a ton of children in the foster care system who need loving homes however the majoity of them are older childen from broken homes where abuse and/or drug use was rampant. A lot of couples want newborn - toddler aged children relatively free of such problems. I'm not saying that it's right, those children deserve stability and love just as much as anyone else, but it is a fact in this country. Yes there are way too many children here who need a forever family, but it is a fact whether you like it or not that most families want a child without mental, behavorial, or physical problems. Sometimes the only time parents can ensure a healthy newborn in this country is to have a birth mother whom they get to know throughout her pregnancy and then they taken the baby home when it's born. Unfortunately if you do your research it is a sad fact that is part of the American adoption process. That's my 2 cents.
