Britney Spears has totally rejected the advice from virtually her entire management team, including her mother, Lynne, and is following her own, somewhat unconventional approach to ensuring she will continue to grace the covers of the celebrity magazines and supermarket tabloids she likes to call “the rag mags.”

“Even though her professional career and personal life are train wrecks and she seemingly is paying little attention to her appearance, she is doing everything she can to make sure she’s photographed almost daily,” a former Britney insider — who’s still in touch with Spears’ current staff — told me Saturday in Los Angeles.

BRITNEY SPEARS fans. The point is that Britney has not made a comeback. If she had made a comeback she would be on letterman, Leno, and doing the circuit. She would be on MTV. She would be all over regular TV also. All the radio stations would be playing her songs around the clock like they used to. She would be in all the magazines. Everyone would be trying to get her on their mag covers, TV shows, and she would be on top of the Billboard charts (which is the industry standard, not iTunes).

She is none of those things. No one wants her on their shows, She is NOT on MTV or any other TV or cable shows. She is not on the cover of any magazines about her new singles. No one in the industry is asking for her or running anything about her. If she had made a comeback then she would be all over the place right now like she was almost ten years ago. But nothing, she is no where. She only has a hit on iTunes. That is a $1.00 sale. iTunes gets a majority of the money for it. Then her record label gets a bunch of it also. Then Britney gets her cut out of the $1.00 (but then has to pay her managers, publicists and anyone else, such as the people that wrote the songs for her since they get royalties and payment for it). Britney, if she is lucky gets a few pennies for each sale. But years ago, when she had CD sales and was all over the place (TV, radio, magazines etc.), she made a huge amount of money for each song or CD sale. Now she is getting almost nothing and no one is interested in her in the media anymore when it comes to her music.

As stated earlier, Billboard is the industry standard and the only real place that the industry and artists use for real sales and figures. She made it to 78# and then it started falling off real heavy. And it only reached that since her fans where pushing it as hard as they could. No one wants her. And if the industry does not want her then her career IS over. Without them she has no support and no backers for major CD releases and major investing agencies to back a world tour.

iTunes is very easy to get to a #1 spot when you have a bunch of rabid fans that are buying the song over and over to push up sales. One of her CD's costs about $15.00 for a fan to buy. But if the fan spends that same $15.00 on iTunes then it is 15 buys. Which means it is like 15 people bought it. Also, her record company and Britney's people buy it for a day or two from iTunes to make it look like it is the #1 sale of that time period. In other words, if Britney's team spend about $10,000 on day one and another $10,000 on day two to download it, then it makes it seem like it is number one. But it is not. There are only a few rabid fans and Britney's people that buy it for a short period of time then it falls off quickly. It is not a true #1. It is just smoke and mirrors and marketing.

iTunes is not a true test of sales. That is why the industry does not use it for there statistics. The very fact that it is nowhere in sight on the radio (in big numbers like she was years ago) just shows how it is not selling well at all. Again, she is not on the radio much; it is not being played much at all. It only got to #78 on Billboard. The industry is not supporting it at all. MTV is not playing it. TV talk shows are not backing her or doing anything about it at all. In other words it is NOT a real #1.

iTunes is just a shallow place that does not count at all. Those are not honest real figures at all. No one else except iTunes is acting like she is anywhere near #1. So iTunes does not mean a thing. If she starts to sell in big amounts in the stores, and she is on TV big time, and on MTV (where they are rotating her songs all the time like they used to 8-10 years ago), then you can say she is back or is #1. And when everyone wants her on their shows and on their magazines then you can say she is back. And when her song is selling real big all over the place and the radio stations are playing it all the time, then you can consider that she is back and has made a comeback. But she is not even close to any of those things, and now it is already falling off of the #1 spot on iTunes. She is not back at all. She is still over.

Along with this source, this past weekend I also chatted with key staff members of several high-profile hotels, including the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills and the Beverly Wilshire. All told me the same story: Spears or one of her posse members makes daily calls to all the hotels — as well as various popular restaurants, nightclubs and upscale boutiques — to “find out what’s going on … who’s there today,” her ex-aide told me Saturday night.
“Britney is obsessed with keeping herself in the public eye. She has told me several times, “If they don’t see you [in the media], they forget you…. I’m not going to let that happen!’ ”
Part of this is Spears’ love-hate relationship with the paparazzi who trail her every move. Yet Britney is going crazy and is in major mental pain. She is losing it more and more day by day. The way she is going she really could get herself killed or kill her babies (even by accident). If she gets herself together and starts to take care of her babies the right way, and herself, and also starts to be a beautiful person inside and out the way she used to be, then I will be a fan again. You support them because they are survival oriented and because they stand for things that really matter about life and people and because they care about you too, and not just themselves in such a selfish way. You don't support them for shallow reasons such as a “hot body” or “hot single”. She does not even write her own music. Others write it for her in the industry. They then use machines to fix up her voice since she can’t even sing. None of it is really her. That is just about as shallow as you can get. To support her now because of a "hot" single or a "hot body”, is to support child abuse, drug abuse, and a mean spirited person. It is to support someone that does not care about her fans or her babies or anyone else. It is to support someone that is acting really crazy and out of control and hateful to everyone, and she is on a self-destruct. Supporting her now is supporting death. And if Britney does die soon, then it will be the fault of her enablers (her fans).

We bash her because she is disgusting. I have NEVER been a fan of hers, I think she has always been stupid, vapid, worthless, and skanky. And my life is fine. I have what I need to be happy, I have a wonderful husband, a nice house, a good family...I have all I really want, and need. Whether or not she has issues is not the point. Nobody is perfect, but most people, if they have issues, TRY to deal with those issues, instead of just running amok like a retarded 3-year old. Commenting negatively and publicly (albeit anonymously) about Britney's disastrous choices is not about jealousy or hate. I would never want to be her.

I will agree that her parents thrust her into the limelight, that she grew up in a hard business and that she has made mistakes.

We all make mistakes. The difference is personal responsibility. You make a mistake, you own the mistake, you learn from it, you move forward. You take time to reflect, and when you need help, you ask for it and let it come to you.

Britney (and her apologists) want to throw blame for her choices on external factors and other people, screech about "forgiving" her and say that we "set her up" for failure. NO. We at home watch the screen, we have no "setting up" influences, and we watch the results of her poor decision making and her entire lack of discretion, civility and parental responsibility. Ms. Britney could have easily (EASILY!) chose to move out of Hollywood, get her life together, reflect on her colorful life and learn from her mistakes. But, sadly, she does not do this. She is a sad, little, desperate person whose desperation is observable even on a screen. She is in denial.
It's not like we're asking her to go into bioscience and get a PhD. At this point, we'd applaud a good haircut, and change of wardrobe (preferably one that includes undergarments and trousers) and some discretion. I would congratulate signs of better personal hygiene. Maybe some involvement in charities to give back to the public which gave her so much. Taking her kids to Disneyland and not smoking around them. And especially, some effort to frequent destinations that are not known to have paps waiting (expecting) her to arrive.
Basically, the "haters" are calling a spade a spade. Ms. Britney is putting very little out there that can be supported and admired, and therefore does not receive support and admiration. Heck, even Lindsey Lohan knew well enough (or was well enough advised) to spend a summer in retreat, away from everything. Even if it's not sincere, in appearance, it is much more admirable than the current terrible cycle of disastrous decision-making which is Britney Spears.

I hope Britney drops out of sight for a while and I wish her some good therapy time, good reflection and meditation, and for her to own her mistakes and life and turn it around for the better. It's not about hate. Supporting her right now is like buying a heroin addict his fix because you feel sorry for him. You are enabling her cycle of destruction. Your BRITNEY story did not make any sense at all. Let's take a look at the actual facts and truth about Britney and Kevin. Britney asked Kevin to marry her! She knew what she was getting in to. She had just met him shortly before she asked him to marry her. She also had less then a year earlier married Jason Alexander for 55 hours. She is crazy and was losing it far before she ever met Kevin. Then she buys Kevin the ring, she pays for everything. She then tells him that she was on birth control since Kevin said he already had two children and wanted to wait for a while before having any more. But Britney decided to get pregnant anyway. She is the one that pushed those babies through, not Kevin. Also, Kevin is not flashing his private parts or getting so drunk and doing heavy drugs that he pukes. He is not ending up in rehab or attacking cars with umbrellas. He is not out of control. She is very out of control and crazy. And you know that if someone very famous and very rich came in to your life and asked you to marry them, you know you would. Most people would. You are just jealous because you did not get that opportunity. Who does not want to live the big life if they get that opportunity? He did not do anything wrong while he was with Britney.
