I think this was the best option. A trial may have resulted in less visitation or worse. It also would have unearthed some nasty stuff about her and him as well.

I already posted my thoughts on the thread below. But since this is a recap I will tell you I think Laura Wasser and Britney made a very shrewd move today making this deal. FEDEX will screw up. He is a no talent loser. He will have to account to the courts what he does with all that money and going to Vegas and spending it on strippers and giving thousands to waitresses for tips will not help his case. They gave him just enough rope today. And Kaplan will take the money and run like hell as far away from FEDEX as he can because like Wasser he is a shrewd attorney. Britney won't have to do anything. FEDEX will bury his own ass and when he does the judge will have to make some choices. Time will tell but I think those kids are where they need to be for now. I applaud Britney for being responsible enough to make this decision. FEDEX did not get what he wanted at all. He thought this would drag on and he would get a busload of cash from her. I think she played hardball and won. She will win in the end. The kids will be fine. They are very young. And FEDEX will be seen on a street corner in VEGAS someday holding a tin cup and dancing for a quarter with a monkey on his back. That is the problem I see in this man. He is quick to point the finger at the monkey on her back that she has worked to knock off and he is blatently advertising that he has some issues with alcohol/drugs/women...and many other things soon to be revealed. I am not a fan in any way star, but I too believe that there is no possible way that someone who is not mentally ill could act like that for the years she has. She shows all the signs and takes the meds that go with that sort of impairment. We make our choices and we end up directly with the results and these are the consequences of her actions. Although I never have heard a 100% confirmed source, I believe that he may have suffered from some sort of mental illness, but once he took his first hit of heroin, he might as well have written his epitaph; which I believe he was actively doing in his music. I think he was also a very intelligent person, but deeply troubled and then ruined by the very thing he felt opened him up to his deepest tortured feelings. His more or less last public performance in the MTV Unplugged set, which took place shortly before his death, showed a hugely talented man freely bearing the darkness of his soul, as well as the last bit of light within him. But it also showed him crumbling and it becomes very apparent when he begins to fade in the show and the looks of sincere concern on his bandmate's faces are also evident. I am left with the sadness at the loss of a great talent and the anger of a person who wasted their lives in the throws of an addiction that killed him. Let's just say that his music affects me in many ways well beyond never having met the man and being more than what was the sum of just music to some.

Haven't seen it yet but hope to soon. If I remember correctly it grossed $18mil + the first night. What a sad ending to a great actor. I first saw Heath Ledger (that I remember him in) was The Patriot with Mel Gibson, I loved him in that movie and still watch it today.

star, going to see it Monday. Looking forward to it! But yet another sad tribute to a great talent and that is obviously why you brought it up. Unplugged was such a powerful performance from a man who basically knew that he probably wasn't going to be around for much longer because of his actions and choices. The supreme entanglement of beauty and ugliness mixed together in one big powerful knot. And one big side comment for any fans of Bale's work, see Equilibrium. A very low budget movie that was Kurt Wimmer's 1st film. Some may like it, some may hate it. Just be sure to watch the extras with the film and much is explained. It is a huge cult film and for good reason. It will be strange to watch Heath tear through the scenery while thinking of the eventual outcome. I also think that much of the energy of this film comes from the power of Ledger's last massive flare up before his star literally burned out. It will be a film that never leaves the minds of those who see it for many reasons. Man, it just made me think of another film and it's star that I greatly enjoyed, The Crow, but for different, yet slightly similar reasons. I will always credit that film for being one of the films that opened up the complexities of a dark character struggling with heroic traits.

I dont see any Cali judge giving custody to someone under conservatorship. She can have visitation which is the more important thing for her childrens well being. I think that genius comes with its' other, darker side many times. The offset balance of talent. It is no wonder to me why so many similar people gravitate heavily to such things. The energy of brilliance is expended, often in very public ways. Some survive, adapt, and thrive on it, while others burn out and destruct. Sometimes it's just drugs though. It's not just coincidence that so many people in these arenas implode in eerily similar ways. I knew a literal rocket scientist (a P.H.D. in propulsion engineering) who wore velcro strap shoes instead of laces because he said that he just flat out sucked at tying knots. His shoes with laces never got untied, just stretched on and off his feet.

I agree with you about Brit crying on the curb holding her puppy. Everyone knows Brit really screwed up but believe she had more than enough people that contributed to her breakdown.
I never saw a list of drugs that Lufti was giving her, but if she is definitely Bi-Polar, depending onwhat he was giving her, he could have killed her. The paps didn't help with the continuous coverage of her at her worse,not just X17, everywhere you looked their was unflattering pics of her, nothing positive.
I wonder if the beginning of her downward spiral was when she was pregnant with her last little boy and KFed was all over the tabloids/gossip sites partying in Vegas. Who knows she might have had post partum after the baby. I'm not making excuses for Brit, but something made her snap.

That is so true. I have worked with many very smart engineers and they had no common sense whatsoever. The brain is so complex and I dont think even brain surgeons have the total picture of how the brain works.

Maybe, one illness often fully brings out the heavier ones. Oh crap, as much as it greatly pains me to say this, I would not be the least bit surprised if she ever comes out with a very dark and downtuned/downbeat album that thinly veils her life. She could express her darkness that is hidden to many fans, yet totally deny a connection. Catharsis with extreme risk though. Many people who do such things often buy into that role and just fully go there. I think her elevator deal may have shown this. It could easily go either way and I think that many of her fans would hate it, but I could so see something like that coming out. And yes, we do not understand much of anything about our own brains and everything else about our reality. The judge could make the conservatorship permanent next month. The conservator would be her dad unless he asked to be released and someone else stepped up. Britney can always ask to have the cship removed at anytime but would have to prove that she is competent to care for herself. They could also change it to be a conservatorship of the estate only and not of the person in which case Britney would not be conservered but her father would control her assets. It is hard to say which way it will go, depends on her commitment to recovery and ongoing mental health care and medication.
