Britney Vs. Kevin Vs. The Magazines?
Britney Spears is on the cover of every major magazine this week/month, and each one tells a different side of the pop star's personal and professional life.
As if seeing her face plastered on all the December/January glossies wasn't enough, there seems to be a battle intensifying between Britney, Kevin Federline and (here's a shocker!) the print publications themselves!
- Exhibit A: Britney isn't exactly praising K-Fed's parenting skills!
Brit looks lovely on the January cover of Glamour, and she gives the magazine a revealing and candid interview, in which she takes a little swipe at her ex-hubby. "In five years I would like to be married and have a father figure for my kids, someone who is a provider and can be really stable," she says. "It's hard doing it on your own."
Hmm, guess we know how she feels about Kevin's paternal instincts! And let's not forget Brit's now infamous Rolling Stone quote on where her boys learned the f-word! (Hint: it wasn't from her!)
- Exhibit B: K-Fed decides this week is the best time to be on a magazine cover
Kevin Federline appears on the cover of this week's issue of People, and while the world's most famous backup dancer doesn't come across as cruel or jealous in his interview, he definitely seems eager to discuss the drama surrounding his bitter custody battle, and the day his famous ex-wife went to the psych ward.
Though Britney and K-Fed's PG-13 media spat isn't nearly as bad as other examples we've seen in recent months (ahem, Lindsay and Michael Lohan!), there's something to be said when a certain gold-digging ex-husband ends up on the cover of one of the biggest magazines the week of his ex's birthday/comeback/album release. We knew K-Fed was a professional moocher, but we thought his days of riding on Brit's coattails were becoming a thing of the past. Guess not.
- Exhibit C: Are the magazines turning on Britney?
The Britney drama doesn't end with Brit and K-Fed's remarks about one another - two other magazine covers this week take jabs at the pop princess, and this is where it gets reaaaally interesting.
Star reports that Britney is going to bed hungry and "abusing a prescription drug" to stay thin, while OK! debates whether or not the pop princess is actually ready for her comeback. OK! suggests Britney is being pushed "too far, too fast" and that her upcoming tour is going to be too difficult for her to manage after a five year break from concerts.
Wait a minute, wasn't OK! on Team Britney? Remember all those cute photos of Britney and her boys, or a slimmed down, white bikini clad Britney on vacation in Mexico? Seems like the mag was close to Brit all summer long, but now that she's back in the center of the ring, did Team Britney break things off with the celeb glossy?
