Bowflexes are AWESOME! You don't need to plow away endlessly at them to get results! I bought mine at Sam's club years ago for a $1000 and bought the 100# upgrade rods to make for a total of 410#s. Resistance training is Very Effective! Like they say, a few minutes every now and then is all that's needed! Plus the cables system allows you to work at unusual angles that are simply not possible with free weights. Good for strength and cardio and you won't need anything else to get results. I HIGHLY recommend them! It's a complete gym and they fold up into a relatively small footprint -around 3' X 3' X 7'. If you know anyone who has one, try it out and it will sell itself! Buy your sis one and use it if she is nearby! You won't regret it! Mine is an older model (with the rods, of course), but all of them work great! Hope that answers your questions!

Oh, and my work outs happen while I sit in front of my entertainment system! Come home, watch tv/listen to music, do some reps. I can now max 410 on bench, squat, and lat rows, to name a few. Don't even need gloves. Only have to do it every now and then to keep in shape. I Hike hills with sandbags in a backpack if the blub starts to appear, but you can do cardio on the BF by going low weight, fast reps until you're there. It also rehabbed a blown shoulder quite nicely because of the low impact!

Thanks for the info. My hubby told me he thought that we should get that Total Gym that Chuck Norris advertises for my sis. He likes Chuck Norris. I said no, I think that Bowflex would be better and from what you told me here it is especially the amount of room it takes to store it. We were not sure about how much room it would take up but it sounds perfect. She lives in an apartment and space is limited. She also is a nurse and is always busy. So I think I will get it for her. It is hard to get her to go and work out with me at the gym. She will love being able to come home and do her workout when time permits. Appreciate it man. Take care!

I'll come back for that! You're right, the Total Gym is garbage! It only uses your weight on a slight incline and is extremely limited in application. Make sure if you get the older style that the ceiling is at least 85" tall. The newer, plate/cam ones are a bit smaller, but I'm not sure of the dimensions. The older rod styles are cheaper now and still for sale. My friend has one and they feel the same! Be sure to ask her if she thinks she will actually use it though! Sucks paying $ for a gift that may not be used! And be sure to check for space limitations. With the leg extension down on my unit, it's about 110" long with the leg attachment swung out! The newer models are much more compact, but almost 2x the price! You can pick up slightly used ones all day long for cheap and nothing has ever worn out on mine. Just stuff you should consider! If $'s not an issue, get the newer style. They're just more compact. Thought you should know about that too.
