Spears' mother claimed in recent court papers that the pop star's sometime companion Sam Lutfi drugged Spears and tried to take control of her life. Those claims led to a restraining order against Lutfi.

Spears is currently under a court-ordered conservatorship.

LAPD confirmed today that their Robbery Homicide division is conducting an investigation regarding reports that Brit was drugged. Here is what LAPD Captain Kyle Jackson had to say:

The LAPD is finally commenting on the investigation first reported by TMZ earlier this month.

Lots of people try worse things to get other people to do what they want. You don't know Sam's side of any of these situations either. Prior restraining orders don't prove Sam is a bad guy. Courts hand out restraining orders pretty easy on the statement of just one person and if that person is biased or lies then there is still a restraining order so that doesn't prove anything.

The quote on TMZ says they're looking into whether laws were broken. That sounds pretty much like an investigation to me. In order to determine whether any laws were broken they'd first have to establish what happened. I don't know how you do that without investigating.

You can put any name you want on it but they are "looking into" the matter. That seems to be the bottom line. Looking into something and investigating may not be the same thing to LAPD but they sound pretty similar.

Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun Times did an investigation late Fall or early Winter into the accusations that Britney & her staff were actually the ones leaking info to the press. It was a well-written article & I'm sorry it's no longer available for viewing.

Zwecker traveled to CA & interviewed hotel & restaurant owners, as well as members of the media, who all admitted that Britney called them in advance of her movements. Names & places were named.

In addition, one of the tv shows - maybe ET - did a follow-up shortly thereafter which featured the female owner of this blog here. X17 admitted in the television interview to the same facts that Zwecker had written about in his article.

The Chicago Sun Times is a Pulitzer prize winning newspaper. So I do in fact consider the source when I quote them.

regarding the investigation people are forgetting that Sam, Michael Sands and Grossman handed over documents and filed a complaint with the LAPD. Sands office was broken into and Grossman has evidence showing someone moved a large amount of money the night Britney went into the hospital.

It will take a while to untangle but the truth will come out and Kaplan is just as culpible in all of this.

Remember the courts can force Sands to divulge all he know about Kaplan. He is just a client it isn't like he is his lawyer.

We really only know what little we've seen happen in public and what has come out in court documents. Based on that, there's likely a LOT worse stuff that we don't know.

I don't blame Sam for all her problems either, but he's an opportunistic leech (among other things). I DO blame him for that.

Mr. Spears has his work cut out for him. And as a parent, I applaud him for stepping in and taking out the trash. Especially if she doesn't want it (parenting sucks sometimes). I saw another poster talking about the pregnancy rumors and want to say how it could change everything! Even though it is from the Biggest Rag of All, STAR, it might ( and I tentatively say) MIGHT:

I could go on, but do you see the point? It will change EVERYTHING if it is true!

Oh, the trip to Mexico was said to be a secret wedding! Adnan is supposedly all over the place talking about it, but i haven't honestly seen him directly say it?

Before you get all excited, her current circumstances also explain those same things. Lots of meds. (especially atypical antipsychotics like seroquel or risperdal and even lithium) are associated with weight gain and sweets cravings, as well as breakouts. The bathroom trips are nothing new. She is laying low, being protected, and Dad is around because he's the conservator and that's exactly what she needs. As far as Adnan, I suspect that Britney's probably none to thrilled with all this and he's being smart by choosing to let the "lesser of two weasels" hang around for now - subject to very strict rules. I also seem to recall a very icky photo on this site in December, so if, God forbid, Brit is pregnant there's no way she's showing yet or gaining weight. The one thing I do agree on - it is horrible to consider.

Hmmmm!,I agree 100%, but it really is filtering all over the place! Scary to think, but I also don't give it a 100% possibility-yet! ok back to the grinding meds or putting meds in food. Yes, when the pills are too big to swallow doctors/pharmacists do say to sprinkle on ice cream or pudding or crush them. Time release prob not; but not all meds are time release. A friend of mine hangs at these ramdom parties they throw out in LA.
