And BOMT and OIDIA sold well over 2,000,000 copies on the first day of it's release. But this CD (Blackout) only sold a total of 124,000 on the first day of it's release. And now after three days, it has not even reached the 200,000 point. Industry analists are saying it has already fallen off in sales badly. It will not even reach the 1,000,000 mark a month from now.

The reason Jive moved the date of release up to the 30 of October is because there would not be any competiton with her sales. So she could get an easy #1. But years ago, Britney could have come out on the same day as Celien Dion, Christina, and many others and her CD would have outsold all of them by far. Now they have to release her CD's on a day and week when there is no competition so she can sell a low 124,000. That is really bad, especially for Britney when you look at her past record.

Also, most of those supposed #1 you are talking about are on iTunes. It was released to the public a couple of weeks ago that JIVE bought over $100,000 worth of those iTunes downloads as promotion to make it look like Britney was doing better then she really was here in the US. They are doing the same in those other contries. It is easy to manipulate those statistics, the chart positions that is. But when you look at the actual CD sales, well that tells it all. She is doing really badly. This is also her last contracted studio CD with Jive (she had a five studio CD contract with them). Britney got 179,000 downloads from iTunes here in the US a few weeks ago that put her at the #1 spot for her song Gimme More.
