Yes, the medical center let her go, indicating that she was no longer an imminent danger to herself, meaning they didn't think she'd commit suicide in the next few days. However, they did not rule that she was capable of maintaining herself and her business.

The court obviously felt it had enough testimony and evidence to grant a temporary conservatorship, and then to extend it another month.

I was looking around the Internet and found this article. She was 23 when this was written, after marriage and before babies, I guess. This was an eye-opener. To me, it says that she is indeed not as she was a few years ago and is most probably in the depths of a mental disorder right now, in dire need of help. The problem is, this is outpatient. If she was inpatient, she would be isolated and evaluated properly and could get better much faster. Outpatient doesn't work for everyone, because you are still exposed to the elements. If they could ever get her in a good inpatient facility, she could probably improve in a few months. It's just too hard this way. If she would just agree, it would be no more than a short vacation and may change the rest of her life.

If they started giving her lithium in the hospital, it would have been working in a week to 10 days tops. That means that Britney is very likely cognizant now.

This is actually when the biggest battles take place with bi-polar patients. She feels fine & wants to make her own decisions. She doesn't accept that she's a long way from making rational choices that affect her long-term health.

They tried all this at Promises. Britney spent 30 days there. A month of in-patient. It didn't work. She does not want this & she said she'd never go back to another facility like that again. What part of she's not interested in this treatment & isn't going to cooperate don't you understand?

Regarding Britney's strange and troubling behavioural changes (i.e. loss of concentration, paranoia, emotional regression and dysfunction, memory lapses, apathy, cognative and intellectual impairment, etc.), could this possibly be the onset or result of HIV dementia? These can be early symptoms of ADC (AIDS dementia complex), and I would expect that Britney has been tested for this in the hospital. I sincerely hope that this is not the case, but it needs serious consideration.

They said they no longer had psychiatric proof -- by CLEAR AND CONVINCING EVIDENCE (a big burden to prove) that she was NO LONGER a danger to self or others. Just because they decided not to pursue that status legally before a Certification Review Hearing Officer does not mean they made an affirmaive decision that she was not a danger to self or others. They just didn't feel they had the CURRENT expert medical testimony to meet the burden of proof. It's like when someone commits a crime but they don't have the evidence -- we may "know" who did it but we can't prove it so the case is not prosecuted. It does not mean that person did not do the crime. Truth and proof are sometimes two very different things.

The court has appointed TWO conservators to serve her. One is her father, appointed by the court, and the other is a lawyer, appointed by the court, who specializes in conservatorships. She also has a court-appointed lawyer representing her best interests at court.

Don't believe these media sites like x17 and these posters who write mean things here. Britney's father shares his responsibilities for Britney with this lawyer who is the co-conservator, and Britney has the independent, court-appointed lawyer looking out for her at court.

To do their jobs correctly and to carry out the trust that the court has put in them, they have to act in her best interests at the time. This does not mean that they follow her wishes, because she is not competent at this time to make those decisions. However, they will represent her in a manner that will protect her life, her finances, and will help her get the right medical help so that soon she will be able to have her independence again and not need a conservator.

The court will always be watching over everything the conservators do, from how they treat her to how her finances are handled. Right now the conservators are trying to figure out why a lot of her money is missing, since some shady characters have been in her life.

Granted, Britney is an adult and can not be forced to do anything...however what are the options? The court does not deem anyone to be incapable of caring for themselves without a mountain of evidence to support such a decision. The court actually makes it a living hell at times for families trying to help their loved ones. We are all entitled to our freedoms balanced with a healthy regard for our well-being and others. When the court temporarily removes an individuals freedom, there is a valid reason.
The bottom line is that a parent will do anything to save their child. Jaime Spears appears to be doing everything possible to save his little girl...despite every obstacle that has been thrown his way.
