X17 Feature: Chris Brown Suffered Abuse During Childhood

Chris Brown

Although Chris Brown's alleged beating of his longtime girlfriend Rihanna certainly came as a shock to the general public, after looking into his childhood history of abuse and violence, it seems like this is something Chris has been battling with in one way or another most of his young life.

A little over a year ago, Brown told Contact Music about the pain he and his family suffered at the hands of someone close to them, in intimate detail.

"I don't want to mention the person's name - it wasn't my real father - but somebody hurt my mom and me, I had to deal with that from seven all the way to 13. It affected me, especially towards women - I treat them differently. I don't want to put a woman through the same thing that person put my mom through."

Although Chris' experiences may have initially caused him to treat women with care and respect, it's hard to break the cycle of violence, and Brown admitted to Giant that he used to dream about killing the man who hurt his mom.

"(I told my mother) 'I just want you to know that I love you, but I'm gonna take a baseball bat one day while you are at work, and I'm gonna kill him.' He used to hit my mom...He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself. I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, 'I'm just gonna go crazy on him one day...' I hate him to this day."

As if it's not hard enough to deal with the pressures of fame at a young age (not to mention dating someone even more famous than yourself), apparently things between Chris and Rihanna had started to turn rocky weeks ago.

MTV cites numerous sources who claim the couple had his a "rough patch" and rumors swirled about fights and infidelities.

I guess all that coupled with the history of violence culminated in Chris allegedly exploding on Rihanna last Saturday night.

Sad.

So what. There is no excuse for what he did.

Posted by: Anonymous

Wow... almost sounds as if you're making excuses for him. Idiot.

Posted by: Anonymous

NOOO9O EXCUSES THROW HIM IN JAIL!

Posted by: Anonymous

Chris Brown is an ugly, good for nothing, piece of S*IT! Everybody knows right from wrong- regardless of your upbringing! He obviously thinks violence towards women is acceptable. What age is he- 19/20? End of career.

No Excuse for him hurting R. However if this is all he knows or has seen growing up as a small child... he needs some real perfessional help ASAP.

Let a playa play!!

ohhhhhhh...how sad. Chris Brown's own friend TI says Chris is handling all this just fine so clearly he is using the abused child excuse to explain his act of cowardness. Personally, I could care less about his childhood issues, he has the money and the time to have dealt with it and I don't want to hear about it now. I want to know why with all the trauma he suffered as a youth he didn't seek counselling..and I bet he doesn't have a reason because he is to stupid to know he has an issue. He's an abuser, his childhood has nothing to do with beating the crap out of a woman so not buying it..Chris. Thanks to TI we all know you don't care about what you did and as TI says "this to will pass"...hmmmm.....will it?

Oh BOOHOOHOO! Get over it. You're a grown man who already knows you're not supposed to hit women. Period. Now get yourself to rehab and try to redeem yourself, ya loser.

Posted by: Anonymous

This philthy savage should go to jail for a long time

Posted by: Anonymous

ok. so he is going to play that card.

Assuming this is all true....It would be amazing to see Chris Brown step up to the plate and admit his wrongs, apologize go Rhianna, his mother, and everyone else. Take the punishment given without whining and then get some counseling. He could talk publicly about his childhood and what he did and encourage young people to get help. He needs to be accountable for his actions whether he was abused himself or not. I can't imagine the shame his mother must feel as well as himself.

This monkey will get his

Everyone should know that being abusive is a learned behavior. It's not something you just start doing. And who said he was using this as an excuse. X17 along with every bog site are pulling excerpts Chris has done in the past as far back as 2007...nothing recently. I am not excusing him at all for what he did to Rhianna and yes he needs help but he is not using his past as an excuse. Everyone should also remember there are 3 sides to every story, hers, his, and the truth.

It was a mistake that Chris made and he knows it was a mistake, he made that clear by handing himself in. Nothing can justify what he did but people need to calm down. Things like this happen all the time, he got angry and wound up and didnt know what to do. Just because he is a celebrity doesnt mean you to go crazy on his ass! This has nothing to do with all you people anyway, your opinions that he should be locked up dont mean anything. Leave them both to work this one out together.

Posted by: Anonymous

hey AAA you deserve a beat down for your stupid ass comments. it is a crime, get it, its wrong, and there are consequences when you do this sh(*&/. if you need to find excuses and you feel this should be open to discussion you or a loved one of yours needs to become a victim to understand the level of this offence. he is a criminal now.

Posted by: Anonymous

Cry me a river. A lot of us were abused as children, yet choose to break the cycle and be kinder gentler people. Being young is no excuse either. He is just a selfish arrogant immature dickhead.

Posted by: Anonymous

eveybody relax he jes trying to keep his biatch in order

Posted by: Anonymous

YAH, 11:43 YOU SOUND LIKE YOU DO REALLY WELL WITH THE LADIES. I GUESS PLAYING WITH YOURSELF WILL BE ALL YOU HAVE IF YOU KEEP UP WITH THOSE COMMENTS-DUMBASS JERK OFF

Posted by: Anonymous

I was abused mentally and physically as a child, I don't even hit my own children, much less other adults! I am so sick of people with thier "woe is me, it's not my fault it's someone elses fault" bullshit! PUT HIS ASS IN JAAAAAAAIL!!!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous

MAKE PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIER ACTIONS AND THEY WILL ACT LIKE THEY SHOULD!!

Posted by: Anonymous

11:34 I think this was a little bit more than a "mistake". A mistake is dating someone you shouldn't. Rhianna made a "mistake". HE on the other hand is nothing but a barbaric animal!!

Posted by: Anonymous

I can't believe you're excusing him. His mother got beat up so he needs to beat other women up? Give me a break!

Posted by: Anonymous

I knew it!!!!!!!Once again a black man blames his behavior on anything but himself. It happens EVERY SINGLE TIME! I think they are uncapable of taking responsibility for anything they do that is negative. Next we'll be hearing it was the white man's fault or his dog that raped him when he was a child....

Posted by: One Race - the Human Race

Chris Brown hasn't said anything, the media is bringing up old interviews etc. He definitely needs to be up front and accountable.
He hasn't blamed anyone because he hasn't said anything.
Being racist is negative also - don't raise your children to be ignorant bastards like you. By the way, I'm white.

I LOVE YOU CHRIS! I'M HERE FOR YOU NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS... YOUR #1 FAN.

Disgusting man. Nothing can explain him. X-17 is also disgusting for trying to do so.

i agree with everyone else. NO EXCUSE!! he should know better than

Posted by: Anonymous

A man can only take so much physical and mental abuse before he blows. All women should know that if you hit someone they are entitled to hit you back, man or woman.

Posted by: yolanda

He should b a man and take his punishment like a man. He knew it was wrong. He shldve walked away. 2 bad bcause his career did.

Posted by: Anonymous

HE'S STILL A KID! NO ONE KNOWS WHAT REALLY HAPPENED. MY HEART GOES OUT TO BOTH OF THEM. SAD SITUATION.

Posted by: Anonymous

uh, 19 is not a kid. some 19 year olds have wives and children. and how many kids to you see driving around in lambrogini's, jetting of to vegas, etc etc.........bad excuse. and by the way, kids get suspended and some charged when they beat on someone.

Posted by: truth

Why are you people so harsh. You don't have any real facts yet you are quick to judge. you must not know the same way you judge others you will be judged. trust me

Posted by: wat the heck man/girl

i really dont care about what others say i feel that its not right to hit a women but im pretty sure chris had his reason to hit rihanna

Posted by: Rick

You all don't really know what the fu.. that man did. Not to mention how the media blows things out of proportion (esp. for someone like him). If you want to judge someone... JUDGE YA DAMN SELF!

Posted by: Tanisha

I feel that he was wrong but also no one knows what really happened and the media never tells a story how it really is and everyone jus need to wait and find out the true story cuz if it was that serious why was it said that rhianna dont want to press charges? but her friends are telling her to and the ppl at the hotel were he went bk to said he was scratched up also so how do you know wat the case is. also ppl saying that he should go to jail but I bet alot of you know men that have hit women and did you call the police on them and get them locked up? i didnt think so bcuz it was proberly a good friend or relative I dont encourage his actions and it was wrong to the fullest he should and he will handle what every happens to him because of what he did as an adult but instead of jus tearing him down wait and see what happens first and also to rhianna I dont want you to feel that I agree with this I dont at all I support any actions that you make it is a terrible case i applaude your strength to be able to deal with this esp. cause the media is not lettin you handle gettin better in piece I am so sorry and I hope you be okay and I hope chris get any help that he need if thats wat he need. jail is not always the answer because we are out siders and we have no idea if he reaaly need serious help for his actions or not he really could be mentally messed up give him and her a chance to deal with this by them selves all the negative comments about what you want to see happen is not going to make her press charges and they are not going to make that judge put him away either so jus be cool if he get locked up okay if he dont he jus mite need sum counseling what ever happen is meant to happen! If he wants to rpove that he really does love her then he should leave her. If he really is sorry he would move on and realize that he doesn't deserve a second chance after what he has done to her. I know that women have a very hard time leaving men that abuse them. I was one of them. When I was 17 years old I was severely abused. My boyfriend at the time used to beat me. He threw a hot bowl of soup at me one day and he evn sicked his pitbull on me. I was in frontpage news of the newspaper where I live because of this and I left him and then went back the same night. One week later nothing had changed and he kept abusing so I got up the strength and it still took me another month to finally leave him but I did. Rihanna needs all the support she can get from everyone out there. She needs to realize that he will not change and no matter how bad it hurts she needs to leave. I cried for a month after I left my former boyfriend but I began talking to new people and found out there was other people in the world that I could care about and that genuinely cared about me. I have now been together with my current spouse for 5 years and he treats me very well. He has never even called me a name. We are very happy together. There are a lot of good men out there too but the key is patience. Don't just settle for anyone and don't follow the same trends!
