I've lived in Europe, the UK, and I currently live in LA.

Some fashion (and other)trends begin in Europe and some begin in the US. To categorically state that one group are the leaders in every manner and the other are the followers is just ridiculous.

There is one area where LA 'outshines' every other place on earth....STARS. This place has movie stars, tv stars, sports stars, models, socialites who are on tv....stars everywhere.

So, when the Beckhams move here they'll be one amongst many with some claim to fame. The number of extremely famous people in all of the UK doesn't come close to the number in Los Angeles County. To believe that an ageing (although handsome) athlete--who participates in an unpopular sport-- and his odd looking, former pop star wife will immediately jump to the top of the Hollywood elite is highly unrealistic.

The fact that their 'good friends' are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes does not help their case either. The Cruise/Holmes duo are seen by the average American as laughable nutcases. The reason Sumner Redstone dumped Tom Cruise's contract had to do with nothing more than business. Between his odd behavior prior to his marriage to Katie Holmes and anything related to Scientology, Americans were turned off by him and stopped seeing his movies. It's a business and money talks.

Trust me, if Americans knew that certain fashions were ever popular among British people, they wouldn't be caught dead in it. British people may hate Americans, but they know everything about our cities, fashion, movies, and tv shows. Do you know how many British movies Americans watch? How many British tv shows are on in the United States? None! How many American tv shows have you all seen? Americans simply do not care about British people or anything relating to them. I'm American but I would deffinately prefer to live in England. Your style is extremely better over there compared to here. And you're culture is far more interesting.
