Who "Nose" What Beckham's Up To?!?

David Beckham got an up close and personal welcome when he arrived in New Zealand with the rest of his LA Galaxy teammates Tuesday.

Apparently, rubbing noses is a traditional Maori greeting called "hongi." And while Mr Posh was a good sport about the first nose rub, it looks like he preferred a more conservative handshake with the rest of the group.

Don't you wish you had the chance to rub noses with Becks?

to TD (aka Idiot)

Your comment is stupid and offensive. You should not make fun of cultural traditions that you do not understand.

Oh relax "Proud Kiwi" don't be so sensitive, it's a celebrity blog after all, not a web site about Maori protocols

Im pretty sure to the first commenter that these are recent as they are on our press websties here in NZ.
But yea hongi's are standard Maori welcommings here.

Anon - you would be the first to cry foul if ProudKIWI insulted Americann traditions of finding 'weapons of mass destruction' - have respect regardless of what kind of blog

Actually "L" I'm a Kiwi also, hence my comment, people take culture too seriously, get all precious about, understandable I suppose if nothing else is going on in your life.

the maori culture group is called Te waihono A Kupe and it was cool welcoming The Galaxy to New Zealand
