i think it's that he feels insecure/inadequate about his size/stature, being a smaller man and somewhat effiminate so he puts on a tough guy stern act with the ladies to compensate. it ends up back firing. i had a boyfriend just like him. an effiminate man with a big ego and underlying rage and insecurity is not fun.
