Drew's a Real Life Angel

Drew Barrymore drewmillionoprah.jpgDrew Barrymore announced an amazing donation of one million dollars to the World Food Programme on today's Oprah show.

Drew's an ambassador to the World Food Programme, which is dedicated to wiping out hunger, and chose to highlight her generous donation on Oprah's show in order to bring attention to the important work they do.

Nice to know she's not only generous with her affections (well, maybe only with boyfriend Justin Long), but she's also generous with her dough!

She always seemed like such a sweetheart - now we know for sure!

That is incredibly sweet and generous. But why does she have to donate on Oprah? Why not just give the money and pass on the publicity? Oh yeah - because publicity is part of why these people donate in the first place. Never mind.

What an awesome thing to do Drew!
Hopefully other hollywood types will follow your lead. You are the greatest...........

Very good to hear. Britney needs to give back and it would help her a lot. You have to give back to the world you live in.

The reason she did it on Oprah was to call more attention to the cause not herself. She has been an ambassador for WFP for quite awhile now and honestly in a case like this there is no such thing as too much publicity. We ALL need to help and give back ~ not just celebs. Pay it forward.

I do volunteer work and donate $$ to good causes like Amer. Heart Assoc, AIDS Awareness, Susan G Kohmen and homeless shelters.

Me too "teekay" God bless you. We all have to give back.

Lets hope she gets the publicity

as tax payers we have already given 30 BILLION to africa and they will never prosper as long as they don't knock down CORRUPT DICTATORSHIPS that keep them oppressed.Don't believe media deception.

what about the poor appalachin children, the inner-city children, etc.,.... Very nice, but really, our country has some very sad poor children too.

Posted by: teekay

jmeen ~ you are right. there are many right here that need help which is why I include local homeless shelters. We really shouldn't knock another person's efforts to help where they want to help. Helping anyone anywhere is helping no matter how you look at it and that is good for everyone.

I think this was a good cry for help. As someone mentioned, it does not matter whereas you offer help in your own neighbourhood or some place else, the help is what counts. She had to to it this way to get our attention, like Oprah does or others do, so there`s no reason to call her names for that. Go for it and don`t forget
