X17 At The Scene ...

As the world mourns an actor's death, the media are out in force at the New York City apartment building where Heath Ledger's body was found just hours ago.

An X17 photographer tells us the street scene outside the building is "crazy. There are about 10 police cars and a big NYPD truck. There is a heavy flow of foot traffic in and out of the building -- both police officers and journalists."

Our photog tells me word on the street amongst reporters is that Heath was in London over the weekend, shooting "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus." He says journalists have been talking about Heath's reported history of drug abuse that supposedly ended a year ago.

more info coming ...

More coming on Heath's previous battle with drugs and alcohol.

"As the world mourns an actor's death?"

- spare me the hyperbole. Yes, it is sad he is dead, for his family and friends, but Right now there are tens of millions of kids going to bed hungry, dying of disease and poverty and civil war...I doubt that people in Bangladesh, and Sudan and the slums of underdeveloped nations are taking time away from the horrible misery of daily existence and survival to mourn "an actor".

Maybe if sites like X17, who have cameras and ways to focus on those issues took the time reporting those important things as opposed to the stupidity of Britney Spears and the like, things would be a little better...

but i guess that you guys did manage to show some poor kids in Sierre Leone... after all...beckham was there with his shirt off...and you guys couldn't miss that.

Who cares?!!? Where is Britney? What is she wearing? Is she done with her period? X17 is All Brit New All The Time Ya'lls. Don't waste such valuable net space on such pointless celebrity gossip like this.

JTS Your post is valid, however you are on this site which shows you have an interest as well on what is going on in the celebrity world, as we all do. At the end of the day a life has been taken that is someone known throughout the world for being an artist. You are right, we don't see the poor and starving people every day, but they are still in our thoughts and prayers. May Heath rest in peace, he was obviously suffering from the horrible disease--addiction.

It is tragically sad to see a fellow australian go to the temple of the Lord, especially one with the incredible acting talents of Heath Ledger. His rise to fame was extremely well earnt. He leaves behind not only a very saddened family, friends and fans...but also a deeply grateful world for having his films to show forever....R.I.P HEATH LEDGER Born: 4th April 1979 - Died: 22nd January 2008.
