We have to admit to being a little impressed with Hilary Duff - she's been taking a lot of heat for her recent decision to wear some scandalously sensationally short shorts, but she's clearly not letting all the criticism get to her!

Our photographers spotted the Duffstress showing off her stems again earlier this week in New York City. We still can't say that it's a good look for Hil - but at least it's better than those ridiculous chains!

E! is reporting that Hilary Duff has been offered a starring role on the CW's new Beverly Hills, 90210 series!

The role she's been offered is apparently "Annie Mills," a "Beverly Hills High student who is into theater acting."

Hmmmm...is Annie the new Brenda Walsh?

No word yet on whether or not Hilary has accepted the role. Whaddya think, should Hilary return to the small screen or is that a step backward for the former "Lizzie McGuire" girl and current pop starlet?
