X17online can confirm that Britney has been called to testify on behalf of Jon Eardley, Esq., the attorney she reportedly hired to help disentangle her from her father's clutches.

Jamie accused Eardley of harassing Brit in paperwork filed for the restraining orders against Sam and Adnan.

The papers claim that Lutfi and Ghalib, through Eardley, were trying to gain control of Brit's affairs. Eardley is insisting that Britney appear at his trial to testify whether or not she authorized him to act as her attorney and whether or not he has actually caused her emotional distress.

An X17online reporter heard a recorded conversation between Britney and Eardley from last year, in which Britney told the attorney she wanted "her life back" and that she would accept his help in accomplishing that. That conversation (and others which have surfaced since then), certainly support his claim that he's only acting on her wishes.

If she does take the stand, which Eardley argues she's certainly fit to do, will this be Britney's opportunity to tell the truth and get out from underneath her father's thumb once and for all? Or will Jamie find another way to keep her under his control?

But father knows best, right?

The LA Times reports that all of Britney's legal troubles have been adding up over the past year or so... according to the article, "at least 17 lawyers and firms have had a hand in Spears' personal or business matters in the 14 months" since the conservatorship began.

And how much money in fees? $2.7 million! Dayum!

Wow, it really cost a whole lot to turn this situation around. But it's been for the better - now Brit is on tour (with a hit album) and can see her kids. So it all worked out!

I mean, basically.

On Monday, Jamie and Lynne Spears filed a motion to strike a large portion of the libel and defamation suit filed by Brit's former manager, Sam Lutfi.

In documents filed in Los Angeles, the Spears' attorneys call Sam's suit "a calculated attempt to exploit the court system" by repeatedly inserting "false, scurrilous narratives" that have "no basis in fact."

Describing the suit as "a fanciful public relations press release," Spears' attorneys want a judge to throw out allegations that are "irrelevant, false or improper."

That Jamie and Lynne tried to control Britney's Life:

"Britney Jean Spears ("Britney") is one of the most recognizable and highest paid celebrities in the world. Ever since she burst onto the scene as a pop superstar, ever aspect of her life and , more importantly, her fortune, has been controlled by her parents, James Parnell Spears (a/k/a Jamie Spears) and Lynne Irene Spears. However in late 2006 and early 2007, when Britney's life was, very publicly, spiraling out of control, Jamie and Lynne failed to offer their fragile daughter the guidance or emotional support she desperately needed. Rather, they saw her very personal and public struggles as an opportunity to gain even more control over Britney and her fortune."

They interfered with her marriages:

In order to ensure that they would not lose the lifestyle to which they had become accustomed, Jamie and Lynne set out to destroy anyone and anything that came between them and Britney; first by pressuring and cajoling Britney into annulling her marriage to long time friend, Jason Alexander; and later by interfering with Britney's marriage to Kevin Federline.

They used Britney's breakdown to their advantage:

Neither Jamie nor Lynne offered Britney any support as she suffered the embarrassment and humiliation of public ridicule. Rather, they saw the rumors and tabloid reports as a means by which they could force their way back into Britney's life and regain control of her fortune under the guise of concern for Britney's well being.

They tried to get rid of Lutfi:

Although Lutfi encouraged Britney to reconcile with her parents, Lutfi represented a significant impediment to Lynne and Jamie's regaining complete control of Britney's life and career.

A hearing is set for April 9th.

A source tells X17online that Jamie Spears will take the stand today in the case for making the restraining orders against Sam and Adnan permanent.

Our source also tells us that neither Britney nor Adnan or Sam will be attending the trial, just Jamie and "tons of lawyers," natch.

UPDATE: The temporary restraining orders are extended until Wednesday - NOT because Jamie can't take the stand until then (he's taking the stand in 30 minutes), but because the judge wants to hold his/her decision until Wednesday in order to gather all the necessary evidence and testimony.

X17online's source also confirms Radar Online's report that Jamie er, the Spears family has filed a restraining order against Brit's former attorney John Eardley as well.

Brit's dad has accused Eardley (who was hired by Sam back in the day) of harassing his daughter, and in addition to Sam and Adnan, Jamie is trying to make the restraining order against Eardley permanent as well. Radar has obtained a copy of the legal papers expected to be filed later today by Eardley's attorneys, and yup, you guessed it - those documents counter Jamie's claims. The legal docs state:

"Petitioner James Spears had no authority to file this action. There is no evidence that Mr. Eardley harassed Mr. Spears or anyone. There is no complaint or declaration from Britney Spears that Mr. Eardley harassed her."

X17 cameras were rolling as a process server delivered a copy of the lawsuit filed by Brit's former manager Sam Lutfi.

X17online first revealed that Sam had filed a lawsuit against Jamie, Lynne and Britney claiming breach of contract, defamation and assault. Sam claimed that he owed more than $800K for the months he spent as Brit's manager. He also alleges that Lynne ruined his reputation in her book Through the Storm in which she says she believed Sam drugged Britney and kept her isolated from her family.

Brit's dad was FINALLY served today with the suit filed by Sam Lutfi back on the 3rd of this month!

You may remember, Sam filed a lawsuit against Jamie and Lynne Spears claiming defamation, breach of contract, and assault.

Jamie Spears is striking back after Brit's former manager Sam filed suit against Daddy Spears in court, alleging (among other things) that Jamie assaulted him, according to The Sun.

A source close to Spears tells the Sun that Jamie is furious over Sam's alleged "drugging" of Britney and blames him for alienating Brit from her family during her troubled times. “Jamie also believes Sam tried to take control of her life and finances. He is determined to pursue a criminal prosecution."

But this could be quite a long and arduous process. A pal of Sam tells the paper, “Sam isn’t going down without a fight.”

Looks like Britney's dad just doesn't wanna talk about it!

Britney Spears' parents, Jamie and Lynne, are being sued by their daughter's former friend slash manager Sam Lutfi today...

Now Sam's lawyer Bryan Freedman has released a statement regarding the suit:

This lawsuit is being brought as a result of the defamation, ridicule and harassment of Sam Lutfi by Jamie Spears and Lynne Spears. A thorough investigation has revealed overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses, showing that Lynne Spears knowingly and maliciously publicized devastating false information about Lutfi which destroyed his reputation, irreparably harmed his career, and subjected him to constant scorn and humiliation.

At the time of the trial in this action, the jury will have an opportunity to weigh the credibility of the witnesses. In doing so, it will be faced with two threshold questions: Why would a supposedly loving mother write a tell all book about the sordid details of two of the most devastating nights of her daughter's life and go on countless talk shows for her own profit? And why would a loving father who deems his daughter to be incompetent, thrust her into a massive world tour only to subject her to the very limelight that threatened to shatter her life, for something other than his own personal gain?

The facts of this case will reveal Jamie and Lynne’s conduct in light of these questions. It will unequivocally explain the motivation of two people who are seemingly willing to destroy anyone and anything that gets in the way of their ability to control and profit from their daughter. We LOOVE this NY Post story about Jamie Spears' "tabloid gravy train" being "derailed" by budget cuts at OK Magazine ...

How would the economic pinch at OK affect Jamie, you ask? Well seeing as how he's sold pictures, interviews, and stories about his daughter to the mag for the past year or so, asking $1 million and more for some of his "package deals," now that the magazine is tightening their belt, they've had to turn down some of Jamie's more expensive offers.

Jamie Lynn's pregnancy and the first pix of Brit with the kids went to OK but now that Poppa Jamie has reportedly refused to work with the mag, the mag's banned their staff from any and all Spears events, according to the Post report.

Not true, says a rep for OK:

"We always follow the Spears - in fact, Britney is on our current cover, and we'll continue running stories about them. We need them, and they need us, and we both know it."

Yeah, a cover about how she dumped her kids to revive her career! Negative Britney covers sell just as well as positive ones, if not better, right?!

After seeing recent shots of Kevin Federline looking so well fed (and that's putting it nicely!), we began to think: who has the bigger, better beer gut - Brit's babydaddy or her bio daddy?

Looks like these two might want to do more cardio and drink less beer in 2009!

Apparently the men in Brit's life have made a list of suitable men for her to date, they've checked it twice and the man who came out on top is Brit's former BFF Paris Hilton's ex, Benji Madden!

In Touch says that Daddy Spears and manager Larry Rudolph are the ones who devised the scheme and set the whole thing up. Other guys on the list were apparently Chace Crawford, actor Jesse Metcalf, and Michael Phelps! But, according to the mag, “Larry made some phone calls and Benji ended up being the most interested in being fixed up.”

So did he win by default?

"They’ve been on a few dates,” says a spy. “They met once at The Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills for dinner in a hotel suite. She appears to like Benji a lot, and he seems to really like her.”

Whaddya think, can this last? Or is Britney just another blonde notch on Benji's belt? Or more importantly, will it spark the celebrity feud to end all feuds between Brit and Paris?

Well, he is their grandpa and their mom's co-conservator, but still! It must be nice to have someone take care of your kids when you're busting your butt at the dance studio or just kickin' it at home. Yesterday we snapped Jamie Spears and Brit's nanny taking Jayden James and Sean Preston to the doctor's office in Beverly Hills, and the pop princess was nowhere in sight.
