If Ben had been as upset by the PAPS as you say, why wasn't he protecting his "girls"? Why was he keeping his distance from them? If he felt threatened by the photogs, why do we see his family out on the streets (daily) without him?

IMO, the pics reflected an estrangement/tension between Jen and Ben and they don't appear to concealing it from the cameras.

Yes, Ben made some bad movies, but since then he has made better choices starting with Hollywood Land and working forward. Both Ben and Jen have gotten great reviews for their work in their past few movies. Ben has won awards for his directing. His moive Gone Baby Gone had an actress nominated for A. Award. He has been flying back and forth from LA to Boston getting ready to direct another movie.
