Michael Vartan was let go when his ex was an executive producer of Alias. She could have easily stopped it, but instead chose to have the last season be about a pregnant spy mourning her love. No wonder it tanked. He was nice enough to return after fan outrage over his death caused a loss in viewership. He was also always a gentleman about everything, which is why they remained friendly after everything.

Jen Garner had everything in the world to do with MV's departure from Alias and whoever is saying she didn't is only saying that because they don't want to see her besmirched in the eyes of her devout fans or either being fed a blatant lie from a few select Alias insiders. She and one other person went behind MV's back to have him written out and certainly weren't expecting the backlash that occurred. MV knew what happened but is far too nice to ever convey what happened and why. He simply moved on but was delighted to be called back to finish up a series that he loved doing. As far as he and Garner remaining friends, let's just say they are cordial to each other.

Garner seems to treat her ex's badly, i.e. Scott Foley and Michael Vartan. I'm looking forward to when she and Affleck start to self-destruct. They deserve each other.
