I have known two Scientologists in my past (one from work) and they do go to the doctors and do get treatment. It’s not against their religion to do so. Just because Tom made his comment about treatments a few years back, does not mean Scientologists in general think like Tom. Also, Tom was talking about psychiatric treatment, not hospital doctors, which Scientologists consider a different thing.

Autism is not some sort of lethal disease. So even if the boy was autistic, there must be some other explanation for this tragedy. In any event, mr. and mrs. Travolta struck me as very loving and caring parents. Putting the blame on them or their beliefs is very unbecoming. My heart goes out to them.

A house caretaker found Jett, 16, unconscious in a bathroom late Friday morning. He was taken by ambulance to a Freeport hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to a statement from chief police superintendent Basil Rahming.

The teenager had last been seen going into the bathroom on Thursday and had a history of seizures, according to the statement. Police said they are planning an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Another police spokeswoman, Loretta Mackey, said Jett apparently hit his head on the bathtub.

Scientologists are against psychiatric treatment, not medical treatment. I know, my mother and brother are Scientologists and have been for years. I am not one, but know a lot about it since I have family in it. I myself am Christian. Scientologists think psychiatry is a Billion dollar a year drug trade and that it does harm to the mind a lot of the time, which has been proven and has been shown a lot on 20/20 and other news shows.

Psychiatrists pass out major mind altering drugs way to often when they don’t even understand the mind at all. The mind is intangible and difficult to treat since it’s not a solid object like a body. When a bone is broken you can see it and repair it. When the mind is broken it is far more difficult to diagnose or repair. And psychiatrists pass out drugs to quickly and they don’t even understand the mind well enough to do so. Then a lot of people become addicted to the psychiatric drugs afterwards.

Scientologists are NOT against traditional doctors or hospitals. They also have to use drugs when they go to the dentist or doctors, and they also have to get operations after a car crash or heart or kidney operation etc. And they also use aspirin when they have headaches. Although they are not supposed to do drugs 48 hours before counseling since they want the person to have a clear head. So John would have, and probably did go to doctors for his son’s ailment. So those of you talking about how he "killed his son" by not taking him to the doctors should do more research or find a real Scientologist to talk to before you judge others, especially when someone’s kid just died!

watching the video, Jett had to be led to the van, and was helped every step of the way. he looked blank and uncomprehending. why then would he be left alone in a bathroom or bath tub at a vacation home, have a seizure, hit his head, die, and be found by a housekeeper or servant?? the Travoltas have money to purchase highly trained 24/7 care for this kid. looks like he should of had a companion at ALL times. was anyone in the house even CPR trained?

I work in the medical profession. And I have run in to at least three Scientologists that are in the field also. Two of them doctors, and one a physical therapist. It's psychiatry that they are against, not doctors.

And from what I have seen over the years from psychiatry, I also am skeptical of psychiatrists a lot of the time. They come in to the medical building I work in quite a lot. They don't have to follow the same rules doctors do. Yet they prescribe a lot of drugs to the patients which do not work a lot of time. At times I have actually seen patients get worse on their drugs.

The AMA’s rules are far more strict on passing drug tests before they are sent out for the public to use. But the Psychiatric Association passes out the drugs far to quickly. Sometimes without much testing at all. And this is for the mind too, not a broken bone or a dental visit. The Psychiatric Association then ends up getting a ton of lawsuits against them a few years latter when the public report, in droves, about how there are a lot of people who are now addicted to the drugs, or that there are a lot of major side effect to their drugs, including worse then the mental problem they originally started out with or even death.

A 16-year old male needs a caretaker? Since when? This is a catastrophic occurrence and is devastating for the Travolta family, but it's even more tragic if it could have been avoided with the proper treatment/medicine.

A very important point to make is that we don't know what really happened yet. News reports are a lot of the times incorrect, especially at first when they don’t' have much data to go on. We don't know for sure if he was alone in the bathroom when he died. What we have are some quick and hurried news reports that even say they don't have all the details, or may even be wrong. So to judge John and his family at this time is nuts. His kid dies and you don’t' even have all the details, yet you start to crucify him since you are prejudiced against him. Show some respect. If you have kids, how would you feel if it was you that just lost your kid?

I would also assume that detox cleansing programs are probably not appropriate for treating seizures. But, I don't know that is what she continued to do. How would you know that a detox program is "not approtriate" to do? Are you a doctor, have you studied the program yourself? And since there are a lot of doctors that think Health food and other detox programs are fine, it just makes your uneducated comments really weak.

I have to agree with you 4:39. I have a family member who also has some major problems. Sometimes the medical profession can't cure a lot of things. So people try to find other solutions for family and friends, which they have the right to do. Doing a detox is not harmful or dangerous. If Kelly said it on TV, then obviously it was ok to do, or else she would have been sued. I have also done cleansing programs from health books I have read, and they have helped me a lot.

The medical profession is not perfect, far from it. They have a lot of politics and crap involved in their profession, big money. They have also tried to make a monopoly for years out of it all by trying to ban anything they don't consider their own beliefs. They have tried to outlaw vitamins, chiropractics, and many other forms of treatment that do work so they can have the monopoly on "medicine" and all the money they make.

The Constitution of the US makes it very clear a person has the right to treat themselves if they want. No one can take that away from them, yet the medical profession has tried for years. The medical profession is NOT scientific themselves a lot of the time. A lot of what they do is quackery and extremely expensive.

Who cares if he had autism? The fact is, he died tragically at a young age. Ella lost her big brother who she probably adored and John and Kelly lost their beloved son. Have you no hearts or souls?

There is a strong link between autism and seizures in adolescents- nearly 25% of autistic children develop epilepsy in their teens.

It is extremely sad that the Travoltas’ belief in Scientology kept them from exploring treatments and therapys that could have HELPED their son. If there was even a remote chance he had autism, if he ever showed any symptoms (which, according to neighbors and friends, he did), it is horrendous that the Travolta’s would put thier own fantasies before their son’s needs.

I hope Social Services investigate the Travoltas. There is no doubt in my mind that Jett was killed due to parental abuse. John and Kelly are cult members who denied their handicapped son the proper treatment. Tripp was murdered and the Travoltas should be held accountable for their negligence.

I read an interview with a family friend who described how John and Kelly would let Jett stuff himself with junk food and sit in front of video games unattended for 6 hours. The poor child grew obese and unhealthy which exacerbated his Autism. Of course John and Kelly only ate the best organic foods - only the best for themselves. Let the handicapped kid eat the garbage.

The Travoltas neglected and abused Jett throughout his young life. They were ashamed and embarrassed by his condition and tried to hide it from the world. John denied he even had a son. They deprived him of medical attention. Jett was severely mistreated.

The harsh truth is that John and Kelly murdered Jett. I don’t know if John organized a “hit” with the Scientologists but he did kill Jett through years of emotional and physical abuse. My gut feeling is that John looked the other way while the Scientologists took care of his problem.

I’m concerned now about the condition of Kelly Preston’s other son - he was born before her relationship with John Travolta. He is older and disabled as well. They never ackowledge or discuss him but Kelly’s parents raised him. They even had to sue Kelly for child support. The boy does not live with Kelly. It’s supposed to be a big secret. I pray he is still alive and did not experience an unfortunate “accident” like Jett.

It’s true. Kelly has another son by her first husband in Hawaii, who is cared for by her family. He also has severe problems, and can’t live on his own. She never speaks about him.

Kelly’s family had to sue Kelly to get her first child treated with traditional medicine and therapies. There is a huge rift between them because Kelly wanted total $cientology control over the kid from California. Her family, who diaper and feed the boy (all grown up now), who provide the hands on care, won the case and the child gets the best of whatever modern medicine can provide. This has been confirmed by court records even if Kelly pretends he doesn’t exists now.

I suspect that Kelly refused to pay for any evil Western medicine or psychiatric drugs and that the court case made it her obligation.

So Kelly Preston has a son that also has "issues" similar to Jett. In a recent interview Kelly says they believe that Jetts condition is due to getting into some chemical cleaners when he was a baby. I guess her first son also got into some chemical cleaner? Too bad Jett had not stayed with his grandparents like her first son, he may still be alive. Travolta was on vacation with his family, they had a caregiver who was supposed to be looking after Jett, and the NEXT DAY he was found dead? what happened in those previous 24hrs I am going to assume he was LEFT ALONE, the caregiver did not stay with Jett. Do you see anything wrong with that picture? when you have a young teen with autism who is unable to care for himself and there is video evidence which suggests that John had to guide his son to a car by hand, and did not even communicate with him at ALL.

I have a son who had seizures. It is such a scarry life. You are in constant worry. If his seizures were in control, Kelly and John were probably used to them being in control. My son has a form of autism called Aspergers. It manifests itself in extreme social ackwardness. The picture of him and Kelly shows him walking on his tiptoes. That is very common among those with Aspergers. However, there is no medication for this condition. For my son being exposed to a lot of people would be the WORST thing imaginable. So don't confuse hiding your child away with protecting your child. I don't think this is a time to judge a couple who just lost a child. The worse thing I can imagine!

It was not about them hiding him because that makes sense, it was about never talking about him unless asked by the news media. He ALWAYS talked about his daughter Ella and how beautiful she is and how smart and funny she is. He NEVER talked like that about his son except to say that he likes to swim. At first I thought it wasnt really true that they were purposely hiding their son but what was weird was at the beginning of this video you see john holding Jett's arm as he is coming out the of the building, but as soon as John spots the paps, he let's go of Jett's arm. People are funny though. Every one is bickering about scientology and why he was last seen entering the bathroom the night before and not found until LATE the next day.

Just know that whatever your belief may be, that what matters most of all is that we should show love to those that mean to most to us while they are here. No one knows when one will be called home and no one escapes it, just know that your precious memories and love of him will live on in your heart and mind. I can hardly believe what some people have written in these posts! Wow! This is such a GOOD family. Sad things happen to people of all religions, to people who get medical treatment, to people of different beliefs than yours, to people with beliefs of yours.

Sad story but what i cant understand is that they say that the last time they saw him was on thursday when we went to d bathroom, so if they were so attentive of their son's condition where were they d whole night or wouldnt they check on him during the night? or were they too jolly celebrating that they forgot about him.

Last night on LKL, they showed an old interview with John, and he said that Jett's "Kawasaki's" was caught right away and treated. They also had on a doctor who said it is VERY RARE that you EVER see it in a child over the age of 5, but especially past 8. If you read articles, it is said that Jett does not speak at all - entirely non-verbal. It seems that it is more likely that he does fall somewhere on the autism spectrum and the Travoltas did not want to acknowledge this. I pray that Jett was at least receiving care for the seizures that he was said to suffer, so that his death could've been prevented. If not, this is a travesty. It already sounds like the spin has started, saying that now, rather than overnight, Jett was only left alone for a matter of minutes. I pray for his sake, that this is true. It breaks my heart thinking of him alone overnight. As a parent, my heart breaks for any parent having to bury their child, though.

Funny that all these people speak to John and Kelly like they are sitting back and reading x17. LOL I was in shock of the news but only because my first thought was thinking this is all way to shady! I agree with the lax laws in Bahamas and what is the deal with the lawyer and why all the cover up with the time line..hmmmm makes you wonder.. they are most certainly relieved that this "problem" child is behind them. Scientologists are against psychiatric treatment, not medical treatment. I know, my mother and brother are Scientologists and have been for years. I am not one, but know a lot about it since I have family in it. I myself am Christian. Scientologists think psychiatry is a Billion dollar a year drug trade and that it does harm to the mind a lot of the time, which has been proven and has been shown a lot on 20/20 and other news shows.

Psychiatrists pass out major mind altering drugs way to often when they don’t even understand the mind at all. The mind is intangible and difficult to treat since it’s not a solid object like a body. When a bone is broken you can see it and repair it. When the mind is broken it is far more difficult to diagnose or repair. And psychiatrists pass out drugs to quickly and they don’t even understand the mind well enough to do so. Then a lot of people become addicted to the psychiatric drugs afterwards.

Scientologists are NOT against traditional doctors or hospitals. They also have to use drugs when they go to the dentist or doctors, and they also have to get operations after a car crash or heart or kidney operation etc. And they also use aspirin when they have headaches. Although they are not supposed to do drugs 48 hours before counseling since they want the person to have a clear head. So John would have, and probably did go to doctors for his son’s ailment. So those of you talking about how he "killed his son" by not taking him to the doctors should do more research or find a real Scientologist to talk to before you judge others, especially when someone’s kid just died!

Until you have walked a mile in someone elses shoes who gives you the right to play g-d our thoughts and prayers are with you may you both have strength and courage to face this hard time and ella blue too.

Why would a 16-yr-old have to be lead along like a 2-yr-old? He looked dazed and was morbidly obese - the parents didn't feed him properly - what neglect. As a nurse for people with intellectual disabilities including those with autism and epilepsy i can assure you that regardless of medications epilepsy can not always be maintained and fatalities due to seizures is a posibility regardless of parents religious beliefs and how dare anyone question anyone else. the phrase don't throw stones comes to mind some people have horrible things to say and you should be ashamed

My daughter Valerie is now age 11 since August 4, 2008, she gets occasional seizures. She got her first one when she was an infant and she had a high fever, so the doctor said not to worry they were only febril seizures. But febrile seizures from what her new doctor and the old doctor said only last to the age of 4 or at the latest 5. Now the last time she had a seizure she was 10, a couple of months before her 11th birthday. I have occasional seizures as well. I did not know you can die from a seizure. Can you die from a seizure? That is my question. Unfortunately we are not in a good situation, we live in my father-in-laws house, who wants me out cause his son (my husband) who dosnt work, and I are not getting along and on January 20 of 2008 I served him with a family court order of protection. In a divorce settlement I have nothing to gain, the house is under his fathers name he has his car under his fathers name, and should I have a seizure while living here none of them will keep me from hitting my head, so does that put me in danger, or could you just die from the seizure itself. I've always had a major anxiety disorder, so 6 years ago the doctor started prescribing the generic form of xanax 8 mg a day, but I get them from 2 doctors and double the dose, if something happens and I dont take them I go into a seizure can this be fatal?

Now with the passing of your son the hurt and pain seem unbearable and unreal to know that he is no longer with you. You need to find the comfort in your memories and in the times you held him laughed and touched him. You might not be able to physical see or touch him but if you close your eyes you will feel his presence and hear his sweet voice within your heart and memories that are within you. It something you will always have with you. With every beat of your heart your son is there. You will carry him with you where ever you go. Not anything anyone says good or bad can take that from you. You have to think that as we come here with a beautiful sprit that sprit is dressed in what we call a body. Once that journey has come to an end those clothes come off and back to the sprit you went. Your sons body is no longer with us but his sprit will be with you and your family forever.

Jett obviously had autism; however, he was allowing to much touching to have been abused by John, Kelly, or a caretaker. A lot of people with autism do suffer from seizures and need to be looked after very closely. This is a true tragidy - my prayers are with the Travolta family.

First and foremost my deepest thoughts and prayers are with the Travolta family at this time. As a mother of a three year old boy, I could never imagine losing him and the suffering I would endure as your family has. To all of you out there criticizing this family and this child, please get a life! Who do you think you are? God? No I dont think so, stop playing his role in this world. Someday you will have to meet your maker and you will be judged. And its kinda funny that all of you that have posted such comments are listed as anonymous. U think ura little stupid for saying horrible things like that huh? Please, look deep into your hearts and ask yourself, am I doing this because this is who i am or just to be cool? If its who you are, then I will pray for you as well anonymous. Someone mentioned that its good that Jett died because John is a great actor and he was a burden to his career. Well I hope to God that you dont or never do have children. No loving parent would ever call their child a burden, or put their career before their children. Anyways this is not about all of you cold hearted people, its about the Travoltas. Maybe Jett didnt (couldnt) follow in his father's footsteps and become a handsome, talented actor, who cares! God has chosen Jett to come and be with him in Heaven, and he has something bigger and better planned for him. He is happy now and he is looking down at his family from a much better and easier place for him. To John, Kelly and Ella, I will pray for you all, that you are able to make it through this time of sorrow. Just remember that your little boy is in Gods hands right now and that is the best place to be. Love and prayers always and forever!!!

i knew this world was a bad world just didnt realise there was that many monsters out there john n kelly lost a son and shuld be let to grieve in there own way they do not need horribe people makin insults these people who do make jokes shud be dead not the young n beautiful innocent jett or others like him so before you speak or leave nasty insults think how there feeling for a minute and imagine you in that situation rest in peace jett xxx

You, The Travolta family have been on my mind so very much that I wanted to send you my most sincere sympathy and I know that you are grateful for the short 16 years you had with Jett. There cannot be anything worse than losing a child, we are supposed to go before them. My prayers go with you, and may the time come sooner than later,a peace in your heart.
