Tom And Katie Are Oh So Stylish!

Superstar couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are on the cover of The New York Times Style Magazine this month, and they both look absolutely stunning in these black and white photos shot by Solve Sundsbo.

Though many refer to Katie as a Stepford wife or a blind follower, the former Dawson's Creek star comes across as intelligent, aware and honest in her interview, touching on subjects like her career and marriage to one of Hollywood's most famous men, and how both impact one another.

On her career and famous hubby:

"I know everything that’s been written and said. I didn’t want people — especially my fellow cast mates — to think that was I just cast for name recognition. I wanted the rest of the cast to know that am serious. There’s a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn’t have any control of her life. That I just became a wife. And that’s pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I’ve made choices in my life that have been very strong. When I met Tom, I was completely in love and, yes, I admired him growing up — he’s Tom Cruise! And, yes, I followed his movies and maybe had his photo up on my wall. I thought, How does he do what he does? And when I met him, he was so warm and I thought, Wow! You can be a superstar and a human being. He made me feel so amazing."

On whether or not she misses her old "anonymous" life:

"No. My life has expanded. My family and friends are all part of this bigger life. And I am protective of my life: I don’t go online. I don’t read about myself. I can’t. I know that if something really horrible happens, someone will tell me about it. I would get too upset and overwhelmed if I read or looked at what’s out there. And I have too much to do. I’m a mom and an actress with a play to do every night. I can’t pay attention to all that noise."

Tom talked about his early career and the upcoming flick "Valkerie," as well as having his personal life examined under a microscope.

On whether or not he reads what's written about him:

"I’ve read it. I know it. I’ve seen it. Look, I’ve gone through this for so many years. You have to have a very thick skin and a very thin skin. But the last few years have been extreme. And you’re going, What the hell? This is really beyond the pale."

Regarding how crazy his life got around the time he married Katie:

"I don’t even have words for what was written then. There wasn’t one thing I could do to stop it. I knew Kate was strong when met her, but no matter how much you warn someone beforehand, you don’t know what this life is like until you’re in it. I wanted that life, that adventure, but it was not the life wanted for my family."

On his relationship with Katie:

"As a young girl, Kate said she dreamed of marrying me. And I said I wouldn’t want to disappoint her. I knew I wanted to marry Kate when I met her. After our very first date, I was sure. So I bought the ring shortly after that first date. At one point, I thought she was going to ask me to marry her first and I put her off by changing the subject. I wanted to ask her."
