Renee you're a jackass. It's not a "straightjacket," and will not hurt the baby's spine. It's a lot cuter than those ugly bjorn things (and probably more comfortable for a newborn).

Sheryl is wearing her baby in a Moby Wrap which is great for her baby. It helps promote bonding, attachment and security. It's not unhealthy for her baby's spine, either- the more popular frontpack carriers that leave the baby's legs dangling are the ones to watch out for. Her baby won't overheat or suffocate, I promise. Babywearing is great!

And kudos to Sheryl for wearing her baby! That wrap is wonderful for bonding with baby, and gorgeous too. It's also much more comfy than a front pack (like Bjorn) and doesn't leave baby's legs dangling. As others have said THOSE are the ones that you want to be careful with.
