Madonna's ego may be bullet-proof, but apparently her body isn't! The Material Mom donned a bullet-proof vest to visit a favela in Rio last week.

Globo reports that Madge, accompanied by bodyguards as well as the governor, armored up underneath a leather jacket for just a 40 minute visit to the shantytown of Dona Marta, where she's currently building a school with the $10 million she's raised.

I know Rio can be dangerous, but isn't this a little overkill?

Madge is currently in the hometown of her boy toy lover, Jesus Luz, visiting favelas, planning end-of-year concerts, and possibly meeting Jesus' parents.

The pop icon, who sported a cross necklace, also brought her rabbi along with her on the trip and visited a Kabbalah children's program. Hey, maybe she'll even plan on adopting one of those less fortunate kids - after all, her interest in adopting in Malawi started because of charity work.

Jesus' mother, who is only 36 (that's 15 years younger than Madonna) was initially skeptical about his relationship with the material mom, but now that Madge and baby Jesus have reached the one-year mark, will she greet Madonna with open arms?

We think her outrageous fashion is fresh, her music fun and her singing/writing/piano playing talents impressive... but can she really seriously be compared to Madonna's icon-level status already?

Well, it's no secret that she's over half a century old, but after taking a peek at her wrinkly, veiny hands, we shudder to think what her face would look like had she not gone under the knife!

The material girl was spotted leaving a medical building in NYC last night, and we're not sure if she was there for a flu shot or to get some work done on her zombie hands, but at least her face looks good!

In something that could be straight outta The Gods Must Be Crazy, during Madonna's recent visit to the Malawian orphanage where she adopted David, one young orphan told the Queen of Pop, "You are our god."

According to Us, Madonna looked bemused by the little girl's comment, but "seemed cool with it."

Madonna "cool" with someone comparing her to a deity? Shocking!

Madonna and her family traveled to Malawi this weekend where she's set to break ground on her for Raising Malawi Academy for Girls.

She writes, "Our vision for the school is to empower girls to become Malawi's future leaders. It’s an honor for me to be able to help as many of these girls as I can achieve their dreams."

And obviously, she's taken a special interest in empowering one specific Malawian girl, her daughter Mercy. Us reports that Madge is planning on meeting with Mercy's dad, James Kambewa, while in the African country.

"Madonna wants to meet Mr. Kambewa because she does not want to deny Mercy her background," a source tells the mag. "Madonna wants to assure Mr. Kambewa that Mercy will not be delinked from her roots."

However, that meeting is seen as controversial for at least one member of the family, who claims Kambewa is not Mercy's real father! "We do not recognize Kambewa as Mercy's father," Mercy's uncle says. "He just came out of the woodwork to claim paternity while he was not there when my sister was pregnant."

While we think it's admirable that Madonna wants to include Mercy's bio dad in her life, we certainly hope it's the right guy! We wouldn't want the poor girl to grow up thinking someone else is her father, look at what it did to The Real Housewives' NeNe Leakes!

Madonna will return to Malawi, her daughter Mercy's home country, to meet the girl's father James, according to reports.

Apparently the Queen of Pop is hoping to expose Mercy to her native culture and to learn more about the country herself in addition to spending time with the girl's dad, James Kambewa, a 24 year-old porter.

"She realizes her kids need a sense of home and she's determined to do all she can to give that to them. She doesn't want to deny Mercy anything in life - and that includes meeting her dad if that's possible," a source tells the UK's Mirror.

Madonna's adopted son David Banda, also from Malawai, will accompany the two on the trip and the trio will meet with the country's president, Dr. Bingu Wa Mutharika, according to the report.

The Material Girl will try anything once!

Superstar pop singer Madonna has written a script called We - and it's a love story! She's shopping it around to investors and looking for actors to play the leads, reports OK! UK.

...and when we snapped the material girl in NYC last night, she also gave us a good peek at her uh, body of work!

While it appears as though Madonna may have had some upgrade work done on her face (arrows 1 and 2 are the spots most docs would say are telltale signs of a facelift), what's going on with her neck? Why isn't that part of her as tight as her mug? And dare we say it's even a little...saggy? It doesn't match the rest of her taut, toned physique, that's for sure!

Perhaps it's time for a necklift too?

The Queen of Pop, who has a greatest hits album coming out, graces the cover of Rolling Stone magazine this month. Well, her 20-something self does, but her 50-something mouth sounded off about her transformations, biggest hits and being a "geek".

“I think people put a lot of emphasis on the whole reinvention of my image, and it’s always been a lot less calculated than people think,” Madonna told the mag. ” I think it’s boring to stay the same. A girl likes to change her look.” Really? Still referring to herself as "a girl" at 51?

“I was a geek in high school. I didn’t really have a drink until I got divorced for the first time [from Sean Penn] when I was 30,” she says. But just after that she recounts a time in the 7th grade where she sang The Who's Baba O'Riley for a talent show in a midriff top and body paint. Doesn't sound too "geeky" to me.

But Madonna also said some things that actually make sense. Madge recently told Contact Music that "I see myself in Lady GaGa."

"When I saw her, she didn't have a lot of money for her production," Mama Madonna said. "She had holes in her fishnets, and there were mistakes everywhere. It was kind of a mess, but I can see that she has that 'It Factor'." Hmmm, holes in her fishnets and mistakes everywhere? Sounds like the old Madonna indeed!

I just wish their first collaboration had been better than this disaster. Oh well, there's still time. GaGa is still in her twenties and Madonna's gonna bio-engineer herself to live forever so maybe we'll get a duet out of them yet!

Last night Madonna went out in New York solo, without any of her five children (yes, including Jesus.) Guess while she wanted to "look back" on her life, she thought it might be best to be with people who were actually alive in the 80s!

Just one pair? You'd think with all of the millions she's made over the years, she could afford to donate an entire closet full of Louboutins, but I guess not!

Madonna has offered to donate one of her favorite pairs of Christian Dior shoes to a charity supporting Gypsy child education, reports the Associated Press. A pair of gold heels, which are autographed by the material girl, will be sold at the Ovidiu Rom annual ball in late October.

Last August Madonna was booed onstage in Bucharest when she said she believed the discrimination against East Europe’s Gypsies should end, but it looks like she does have some supporters! Leslie Hawke (yup, she's Ethan's mom), president of Ovidiu Rom, told the AP, "Madonna’s very mild comment regarding equality shone a spotlight on a common European attitude toward Gypsies. We’re thrilled to have her donation because she is such an icon of innovation and vigor and ‘can do’ spirit."

We think she can do a little better than this though...

Madonna won an undisclosed amount in damages against the The Daily Mail for publishing stolen photos of her wedding to Guy Ritchie in 2000.

The AP reports that Madonna had been seeking damages in the amount of $8 million.

The photos were copied from an album in her Beverly Hills home by an interior designer who was hired three years after she exchanged vows with her now ex-husband. The designer only recently decided to profit on the photos, allowing a woman to sell them to the Mail, who published them last year, just after news of the divorce broke.

Madonna's attorney says she's donating all proceeds from the case to her Raising Malawi charity.

Trust me, it sounds WAY better than it actually is!

The Queen of Pop and the new Princess of Pop - sorry Britney! - appeared on SNL last night. No, they didn't technically perform... rather, Madonna and Gaga had a fake "cat fight" before proceeding to make out with each other.

This should've been sooooo amazing and it was just not funny at all. Take a look!

Come on, SNL, you get these two divas on the show at the same time and this is the best you can do? Without Tina Fey, the ship is sinking!

Ahh, one can always expect ridiculous quotes from the Queen of Pop when she sits down for an interview, and last night on The Late Show With David Letterman was no exception.

The material girl was carried into the studio on the shoulders of several of the NY Rangers, and she quipped that this was her first time "riding" a hockey player. Madonna also joked with Dave about some of her other conquests (check out the video below to see the look on her taut face when A-Rod's name is brought up!), and she even talked about walking down the aisle again. When asked if she'd get married a third time, she told Dave, "I think I'd rather get run over by a train." Hmm, did her marriage to Guy Ritchie leave a bad taste in her mouth or what?!

Even though Madonna has a tendency to be a bit ahem, full of herself, she was witty and polite with Dave, and she was even game to eat in front of the cameras! When Dave learned that Madonna had never had a piece of NY pizza, he took her around the corner for a bite to eat. Of course, Madonna doesn't eat cheese, so her slice was topped with basil and olives, but she happily chowed down on the dairy-free goodness as photographers snapped away from the street. Hmm, maybe she's not such a diva after all?

In honor of Cougar Town - starring the always-delicious Courteney Cox - premiering tonight, we here at X17online decided to proclaim today "Day of the Cougar!"

That's right, a tribute to the cougars of Hollywood! Sure, there are likely a bunch of 'em, but where would we be without trailblazers like Demi Moore, Madonna and Sharon Stone?

Without them, it'd probably only be men dating younger women and not the other way around!

At the opening of the Boom Boom Room at the Standard Hotel in NYC on September 12, the National Enquirer reports that Madonna had her security team keep Lindsay Lohan away from her VIP table!

While Madonna was happy to let pals like Jon Bon Jovi and Steven Klein stop by, it looks like the material girl wanted nothing to do with La Lohan. Aww, whatever did Lindsay do to her? I mean, that hairstyle copycat drama was SO last year, what's her beef now?
