Date Set For Madonna Adoption Appeal
Madonna will continue her efforts to adopt a 3-year-old girl from Malawi in an appeal to be heard by a court in the African nation next month.
The 50-year-old's application to adopt Chifundo "Mercy" James was initially rejected because Madonna did not meet the country's residency requirements to adopt.
"We believe the lower court judged erred by basing her judgment on an archaic law of over 50 years ago," Madonna's attorney Alan Chinula said.
Madonna is not expected to attend the court hearing, which could last as long as two weeks and is expected to being on May 4th.
