Wait a minute, aren't they devout, religious Catholics? Devourt Catholics are not allowed to divorce, the vatican forbids it. And since Gibson is buddy-buddy with the vatican, how does he explain this?

I agree with the first poster though, good for her! How she survived 28 years with a religious fanatic is anybody's guess. The man is certifiable.

What a shame. I hoped all would go well for Mel but, things don't always go the way they should. Hopefully, they can work it out. No big deal really. People get divorced all the time. It's just a shame when there's a child involved.

They've been separated for two years. And just a couple months ago Mel was seen on the beach making out with a young woman. He's cheated before but Robyn always took him back. I guess she finally had enough. Good luck to them both.

Catholics are not forbidden to divorce anonymous 9:26am. They are not allowed to remarry unless they have attained an annulment.

You're partially right anonymous 10:17, they are not totally forbidden, but usually only annullment is seen as valid and recognized by the Catholic Church. But that is not the same as actual divorce.

But in itself, divorce is actually not possible on the theological level, because a sacramental marriage cannot be dissolved. Marriage bonds in Catholicism are seen as "indissoluble".

I like Mel Gibson and I'm sorry to hear of his marital problems. He is a very good actor and up to this piont, a loving father as well. After 7 children,
what could possiby go wrong? One thing for sure, they have enough money to be content. All the best to them and their children.

Robyn seems like a quiet, sweet, loving, old-fashioned wife and mom. I think when Mel flaunted his Russian girlfriend in Costa Rica to his grown sons and their girlfriends, that was the final straw for Robyn.
