It's to be respected the family allowed her this, probably KNOWING so well (by knowing public opinions and gossips!!) that it would be considered as a kind of surprise act they planned in advance.
They may have talked about it beforehand, when the girl asked about the possibility. But I am pretty sure they didn't know untill it happend that Paris really wanted to say her last farewell to her father.
If it were a setup, the other 2 children would have said a well prepared text also.
They never showed the intention to do so.
Let them be now with their enormous loss and grief. They deserve to receive the time they need to mourn.

Janet probably asked the kid if she wanted to speak to make it look as if it were voluntary and spontaneous. Or, she asked in a last minute fit of conscience about using the kid. There might have been and are problems in the Jackson family but every family has its problems and just because they are in public it doesn't need to be built up like this. I think Paris is a very strong girl and at the age of 12 she is able to make a desicion like saying good bye to her father, especially after two hours of all the speeches she might have felt she had to do that but didn't expect that it would hurt so much. No, she wasn't forced to talk. She wanted to. The reason she was fiddling with her purse was probably because she was nervous. She went up to the mic and adjusted it herself. The Jacksons wouldn't have made her talk if she was crying really badly. She wanted to talk so people could see how attached she was to Michael. Michael was their life.
