As a PETA member this disturbs me. For years PETA has earned the respect of millions because they had conviction and stuck to their values. They fight against animal cruelty and encourage a vegan or at the very least vegetarian lifestyle. They offer healthy alternatives to meats, leather, fur and have informed ,and stopped, the practice of experiments on animals. They are known for their blatant in- your- face approach to protesting, as well as their naked celebrity campaigns against fur.
To have someone like Paris Hilton, a meat eating- fast food loving -leather wearing- media freak show represent their campaign, Kentucky Fried Cruelty, would be a disgrace to all loyal PETA members. I for one discourage this blatant lack of respect to the PETA community. She claims to be an animal lover. How do u eat something that you love? She is bereft of values and puts on a facade to the media to make her look "kind, concerned, and responsible."
This is also reflected in her statement that we should focus on the men and women in Iraq. When has she ever taken a stance or spoken about the war? Or signed autographs for our troops? She seems to want us to focus on the war NOW that she is incarcerated, but loved having her face plastered all over magazine covers before and never used those opportunities to discuss our troops..
Please, I beg you, she might be a changed woman, but she is not fit to represent PETA right now.
