Paul Newman Dead At 83
photo courtesy Getty ImagesLegendary actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman, died of cancer on Friday at his Connecticut home at age 83, according to his spokeswoman, Marni Tomijanovic.
Newman appeared in countless classic films like Cat on the Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. His career began in the 1950s and remained strong through his eventual Oscar win in 1986 for The Color of Money -- his eighth nomination.
Later in his life, Newman became known for his Newman's Own line of food products, the profits from which are donated to charities such as Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang camps and has given away more than $200 million in support of terminal ill children.
Newman is survived by his wife Joanne Woodward, his wife since 1958, and their five children.
