He took the kids on the run for a couple of weeks (no custody order at the time)

Dead animals left on my door step

Just as someone commented earlier, not all the facts are in, we may never know all of them and this is all speculation. No one was there, no one saw what happened. Who was the "source" they talk about? It was right for someone to intervene, though. If you heard someone screaming, wouldn't you want to help? Why isn't violence like this, domestic or other, everyone's problem? It could easily be directed at you one day -- wouldn't you want someone to help you, even if it's a stranger?
