In Britain, if you reverse the peace sign and hold the hand still (the way Sam is doing) it means "Up Yours/F**k Off". If you hold the hand out in front of you and motion your wrist up and down, this is known as "Flicking the V's" and is an extremely aggressive gesture guaranteed to get you into a lot of trouble. The gesture can be made with either hand, and Britain is the only country in the world where it has this connotation.
