The New York Post reports the "Entourage" star called in sick for Tuesday's evening performance and both shows on Wednesday before flying back to Los Angeles.

When told of Piven's exit, playwright Mamet joked to Variety, "My understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer."

Piven has made no official statement about his health or the cause of the elevated levels of mercury in his body. Reports have said the actor is suffering from "exhaustion."
