Star Trek Remake Brings In A Whole New Universe Of Fans

StarTrekPine200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The fresh-faced new "Star Trek" was energetically received by both fans and critics in its opening weekend at the box office.

The new voyage of the starship Enterprise brought in an estimated $76 million in its first four days of release.

The IMAX version set a record for the biggest weekend for a large screen film, selling $8.2 million worth of tickets.

Last weeks top ticket seller, "Wolverine" earned a very respectable $27 million, bringing it's take to more than $168 million in just two weeks.

"Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" was third with $10.4 million while "Obsessed" was fourth earning $6.6 million.

Zac Efron's "17 Again" continues to perform well, the heartthrob's film earned another $4.5 million, good enough for fifth place.
