Madonnamalawisch200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Malawian government officials have informed villagers outside of Lilongwe that they must move to make way for the all girls' academy Madonna will be building on the land.

According to the AP, District Commissioner Charles Kalemba told hundreds of villagers yesterday that the region has been handed over to Madonna, and even though they have been offered other land, the vast majority of residents are refusing to leave.

Anjimile Mtila-Oponyo, the headmaster of Madonna's new $15 million school, says the queen of pop paid the villagers roughly $115,000 to compensate them for their houses.
