Jerry Seinfeld Raising Money For Nashville Flood Victims

seinfeldnew200.jpgNASHVILLE, Tennessee (X17online) - Jerry Seinfeld is the latest celebrity who is donating money to Nashville after the devastating floods left many residents without homes.

The comedian will be performing a show today at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center and all proceeds will be given to the flood victims. Both the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee will split the money.

Seinfeld released the following statement:

    "This is a tough time for a great city, and I'm very happy to donate the proceeds from this show to the local organizations that are bringing help where it's needed."

Other celebrities who have donated: Vince Gill, Brad Paisley and Lady Antebellum who all helped raise more than $1.7 million during a local telethon and Taylor Swift who donated $500,000.

A benefit concert called Nashville Rising is planned for June 22. It will feature performances by Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood and Martina McBride. Ke$ha, a Nashville native, also has a benefit concert scheduled for June 16.
