LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - CBS' The Talk gained 2.2 million viewers in it's first week, according to Nielsen.

Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Leah Remini and Marisa Jaret Winokur co-host the new weekly talk-show which is rapidly nearing the #1 spot in its time slot. The Talk is the first network daytime talk show to debut in more than a decade, which could finally give The View some healthy competition. Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shpherd, Whoopi Goldberg, and Barbara Walters still dominate with an additional one million viewers, but that may change if the The Talk gains more steam.

Viewers may find The Talk more appealing considering the co-hosts have promised not to talk over, or interrupt one another while discussing daily topics. "A big premise of the show is that it is about having a group of friends," Melissa Gilbert tells USA TODAY.

Leah Remini expressed: "I feel comfortable here with these women, with CBS. We're all moms, we all have relationships, we all have the same trials and tribulations that relationships go through; we as moms learn from each other by talking to each other."

"There is no denying the comparison to The View but I think if people watch our show, they will get a different vibe. We are not trying to be political", Julie Chen revealed to the New York Post.

The Talk airs weekdays 2pm ET/1pm PT on CBS, its premiere-week guests featured Christie Brinkley, Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dancing with the Stars' Cheryl Burke and her Dancing partner Rick Fox.
