NEW YORK, NEW YORK (X17online) - The ground breaking 1994 musical Rent will be revived next year at off-Broadway's New World Stages in June, right after the Tony Awards.

The new production will be completely re-vamped, with a different set, and a fresh cast of unknowns. That original cast included Idina Menzel, Taye Diggs, Jesse L. Martin, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Daphne Rubin-Vega.

Allan S. Gordon, an original producer of Rent, decided to revive the show in New York after catching a concert version last summer at the Hollywood Bowl. "The truth is, it really is timeless, It still works." Gordon said.

Rent closed in 2008, after nine years and 5,124 performances.
