hobbitpj200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Production on The Hobbit has been pushed back after director Peter Jackson was admitted to Wellington Hospital in New Zealand Wednesday with acute stomach pains.

The master behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer and is currently resting comfortably. Doctors expect him to make a full recovery. According to a statement from the production, the set back is extremely minor. Production reveals:

"Sir Peter's surgery is not expected to impact on his directing commitment to The Hobbit beyond a slight delay to the start of filming."

Filming was scheduled to start sometime next month, and The Hobbit will be released in two parts. The first will hit theaters December 19, 2012.
