Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor announced Wednesday opening statements have been postponed until May 9.

Murray has pleaded not guilty and his attorneys maintain he did not give Jackson anything that should have killed the singer.

Judge Pastor has been going back and forth with Murray's legal team in recent weeks concerning why they had not turned over more notes on witnesses and other potential evidence to prosecutors in advance of the trial.

Murray told the judge he would agree to the delay if the screening of prospective jurors begins on March 24.

Judge Pastor has scheduled a status hearing for March 9.
