LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Fast Five, the latest in the The Fast and the Furious franchise, is expected to make $60 million or more on its opening weekend in the U.S.

The pic has already made impressive money overseas. The movie opened last weekend in Australia, the U.K., New Zealand and South Korea to record numbers for the franchise. It has grossed more than $35 million internationally thus far.

A sixth Fast and the Furious film is rumored to already be in the works after Fast Five's success overseas.

The most recent film, Fast & Furious, opened in 2009 to the tune of $71 million.

Fast Five brings back the series regulars, including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson. Joining for the first time is Dwayne Johnson.

Speculation is that the pricey pic cost between $125 and $150 million to make. Universal, the studio behind the flick, has put a lot of weight in the franchise's success.
