"It's been an extraordinary privilege to sit in this chair," Couric, 54, said Thursday on her last news show which featured segments on Lance Armstrong, the recovery of Gabrielle Giffords and President Obama's foreign policy speech.

The anchor recapped her five years in a five-minute reel highlighting her interviews with Betty White, Alex Rodriguez, George W. Bush, among others, then thanking viewers "for coming along with me on this incredible journey."

Her replacement, Scott Pelley, will take over June 6.

Couric has yet to reveal what her future professional plans are, but there are reports she is closing a deal to host a daytime talk show on ABC.
