Brett Ratner and Don Mischer To Produce 84th Academy Awards Ceremony

bigthumb.ratner011410_01_X17_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Director Brett Ratner and TV producer/director Don Mischer have been tapped to produce the 84th Academy Awards telecast, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak announced Thursday.

This will be the first Oscar gig for Ratner, who is best known for his direction of Hollywood blockbusters such as X-Men: The Last Stand and all three Rush Hour films. Academy CEO Dawn Hudson praises Ratner's "smart and fresh take for the show.”

Mischer is returning to the Oscars after receiving an Emmy nomination for his work on this year's ceremony. His past television production credits include the Tonys, the Emmys, and Super Bowl Halftime Shows.

ABC will broadcast the 84th Academy Awards on February 26 from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
