MTV Introduces New Category To VMAs

bigthumb.KPerryVMAs091210_11_X17_200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - This year's Video Music Awards will feature the new category of "Best Video With A Message," MTV announced on Thursday.

The category "celebrates the union between music and social activism, and highlights artists who created music videos that made us think about the world around us."

Nominees for the "Best Video With A Message" include P!nk's "F---in' Perfect," Katy Perry's "Firework," Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," Taylor Swift's "Mean," Eminem feat. Rihanna's "Love the Way You Lie," and Rise Against's "Make it Stop (September's Children)."

Viewers can vote on their mobile phones and at vma.mtv.com through August 16, and the 2011 VMAs will air live on Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m.
