Oscars May Move From Kodak Theatre After 2013

oscarskodak200.jpgLOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - The Academy Awards may change location, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Held at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre since 2002, the Oscars could move after 2013 due to a clause in the contract between the Academy and the venue's owners.

“This is purely a business decision,” a member of the Academy board of governors told The Hollywood Reporter. “The bottom line is we are going to look at other places and listen to all offers. We may ultimately decide to stay where we are if we can renegotiate a better lease.”

No word yet on which L.A. venue may host future ceremonies, though the Nokia Theater at L.A. Live is a likely contender.

The 84th Academy Awards – possibly one of the last at the Kodak Theatre – will be held on Feb. 26, 2012.
