sashacohenlesmis200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - Sacha Baron Cohen has not been banned from attending the Academy Awards, contrary to previous reports. Although the Academy will allow the Borat star to celebrate Hollywood's biggest night with the rest of the crowd, they are suspicious of his motives, since he is known for stirring up controversy.

"He's not banned, we're waiting to see what he's going to do. We'd love to have him there, but we'd like to hear from him what his intent is," an Academy spokesperson explained. According to various reports, Cohen was planning to walk the red carpet as his latest character, "The Dictator".

Cohen has used award shows and other big events in the past to hype his upcoming films, such as when he attended the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards dressed in character as gay fashionista Bruno.

The Academy has reached out to Cohen's rep to clarify the star's intentions, but have yet to receive a response. Calls have also been placed to Paramount, the studio behind Hugo and Dictator, but they declined to comment.
