bully200.jpg LOS ANGELES, California (X17online) - After receiving flack for their initial R rating for the film Bully, the Weinstein Co. has decided to release the Lee Hirsch-helmed documentary unrated.

The Motion Picture Association of America gave the film an R rating due to its language and has dismissed the Weinstein Company's appeal. The move now leaves the decision to show the film up to individual theaters.

"The small amount of language in the film that's responsible for the R rating is there because it's real," Hirsch said. "It's what the children who are victims of bullying face on most days. All of our supporters see that, and we're grateful for the support we've received across the board. I know the kids will come, so it's up to the theaters to let them in."

Bully will open on March 30 in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles.
