"The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," a rep for the group said in a statement. "The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Gibb battled colon and liver cancer two years ago and made a brief recovery only to have a secondary tumor develop along with pneumonia.

With Gibb's death, this marks the end of the popular 70s group. Robin's twin brother, Maurice, passed away in 2003 due to complications from a twisted intestine and younger brother Andy died in 1988 from a heart ailment.
