GTO was discontinued because the body style was discontinued. Just like the 96 Impala was discontinued. Muscle cars aren't 2 doors? I do something here that might get me flamed but I am going to try to be CIVIL.

I think they are both sharp cars. I happen to own an 06 GTO. A huge part of my decision making process was the price. I paid just over $29K for my GTO where the Charger SRT8 was closer to $43K. That is a $14K difference for cars that are pretty close as far as speed goes. With half the difference, about $7K, I am able to do a couple of modifications. ie, fuel system, methanol, turbo set up. Now I have a 600+ HP car and I am still into it for $7K less than the charger. I have two kids which means I needed a back seat so the Vette was out as an option. The slowest thing about my GTO is the power seats, which is a bit of a pain when the kids get in and out of the back. Sure two more doors would have been easier but muscle cars are not supposed to have 4 doors, are they?

I also like the uniqueness of the GTO. I may have seen 8 or 10 on the street in the last 4 years. I have seen many Chargers (and even more Mustangs but thats for another time).

Say what you want, they are both sharp cars but the GTO offers the more for the money.

Both cars are awesome cars. I do own a 06 GTO and have pulled on a SRT8 Charger. If you don't believe me ask my brother, it was his Charger. The Chargers are a more family car and better for cruising and trips. The GTO is a sports car.
