Hatch had been serving house arrest at his sister's home after nearly four years behind bars for failing to pay taxes on the $1 million he won on Survivor.

In the interview which aired on the Today show on Tuesday, Hatch said he felt he had been targeted because he is gay and accused prosecutors of misconduct. The interview had been approved by prison officials.

It's not clear why Hatch was taken back in to custody. Speaking to Lauer in an interview Wednesday morning, Hatch's attorney said she didn't know if Richard's accusations were the reason he was put back in jail.

"I really don't know, everything Rich said is public record," the attorney said.
